By definition, you would have a pancake unless you have a waffle mold on your sandwich maker. The mold makes indentations in the mixture and causes the texture to be different than a pancake due to thin surface areas that become crispier than pancakes.

Yes and no at the same time. Yes if you are using the waffle mould, because the heat required is around the same. No if you are using the default mould. Your waffles will end up thick, sludgy
and triangle shaped. Also, it will get messy.
