We're thinking of moving from a 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apt while waiting to get into our new house(probably a couple of years). I had thought of possibly using those "beaded curtains(doors)" just as smething to seperate their sides with. Any other suggestions?

You can put wardrobes and any other large items of furniture in the middle of the room to create a wall down the middle. You can also get free-standing dividers which will act as a wall and allow some 'display' space for your kids to put up posters, reminder notes, etc.

Good luck!

Well, I am not one to want to make a boy and girl share a room, because the girl will get at an age and soon where she really needs the privacy. But if you are forced to have to do that, then I would check into buying some of those wall petitions to set up in the room, provided there is enough room. They can be closed during and through the morning until after everyone is dressed and you can fold them back against the wall for the day, or you can just leave them up permantly. They have all shapes and sizes but I am unsure where you get them at.

If you can have seperate rooms, I would.
As your daughter is 10 its my guess that she is, or soon will be, entering puberty. If you are looking at this arrangement for a few years then you will have a young lady of 13 -14 in a room with a boy child of 5-6. Not an ideal combination. The little one will be at the stage of getting into everything just at the time the daughter will be looking for more space and privacy.
I seperated the girls bedroom from the boys when my eldest girl turned 9. Hope this helps, B

This is a bit tough since 10 and 2 is such a large age gap. I think that a good idea would be to use those chinese screens in a color that is both femminine and masculine tone (white, yellow, blue, green, red, orange etc.) This will create space and use a division. Another idea to make it seem like they each have their own room is to paint the walls on their side of colors they like (girl: pink, purple, light blue, yellow...boy: blue, green, orange etc.) Also put the beds as far away from the screen as possible. This is so any sounds can be minimized to make it seem as if there is only 1 room.

I suggest a fully loaded gun!!! But if you are not thinking as extreme, you could check for some ex office stuff, like the grey pettitions, you know the type with carpet, or if you have two living areas in your new appartment, it may be easier to put the 2 year old in that area as apposed to the 10 year old who's privacy is much more important to her, either way best of luck to you!!!

You could use two bookcases the same size-just put them so the shelves faced one side of the room on one unit and in the other side of the room on the other unit. You could put a poster or something on the back of the one that faced the chilrens areas.

Perhaps your daughter would enjoy an elevated "loft style" bed. You could hang curtains around it so that she can have a bit of privacy. This would also save space because you can put furniture under the loft bed.

I would just get some wood ,make a frame, use mesh or Even nail sheets to the frame and let them paint them make it fun for them cause i think it would really have to suck for your daughter to share a room but u just have to do what is going to work out for you in the far future

You can not put children of opposite sexes over the age of 5 in the same room. DHS would have plenty to say about that. You can however have one of the children in your room.
