it was the yom kippur war where the Egypt army lost about a thousand tanks, the Syria army 1150 tanks and the Israel about a 400 tanks. That they lost less tanks is due to the fact that at the end they could recuperated there vehicles after the battle to repair a great deal of them.
keep in mind this are only the numbers of tanks lost the total numbers of tanks that where used are still a bid bigger

Most significant tank battles happen in desert terrain it seems. It's open territory where tanks can be most effective. Therefore, in answer to your question, I would have to go with the Arab-Israeli War in 1972 OR if you are strictly talking about conflicts in which the US were involved in, I would probably go with the invasion of Iraq/Kuwait during Operation Deset Storm in 1991. That was big, though not much of a battle. Our main batle tanks annhilated the Republican Guard tanks easily.

July 12, outside Kursk Russia. Germans lost 350 tanks & over 10,000 men. On the 5th day of battle, the Germans lost 30 divisions totalling over 550,000 men. These numbers in less than one week. Puts Iraq into perspective. Tony 2bn 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV

After WWII, there were no large tank battles. Tanks were used in Korea, the Middle-east and Afghanistan, but nothing approaching the scale of tank battles during the war.

I think there was one in the Yom Kippur War between Syrian, Eygptian and other Arab allied tanks vs the Isreali tanks. The Israelis won.

Yom Kippur War (1973) involving thousands of tanks from Egypt, Syria, Jordan and IDF.... The shock and awe of the 1st Gulf War came pretty close to second best, although it was highly one-sided.
