Hi.
Im on depession tablets and have been for a while.
For a few years now I have been finding it really hard to stay awake.
When i drive home from work I fall asleep at the wheel momentarily. (Not good I know)
When I come home I just wanna lye down on the couch. If I do I fall asleep within a minute.

Is my depression the cause of this or may I have another problem?
Thanks

My doctor told me I need to push through the sleepiness.
Better said than done.

I'm not sure, but it may be the medication that you are on. Some medication has side-effects and this maybe why. You should talk to your doctor about the problem, so that he can clarify it.

It is a good possibility that both the depression and the sleepiness are related.

Your depression can be brought on by a disturbed sleep cycle.

Narcolepsy (I have it) can cause this.

Ask yourself this question "if I doze for just a few minutes did i dream?"

That is key... only a person with Narcolepsy can dream within a few minutes of falling asleep. Normal persons need to be asleep for an hour before they dream.

The best way to determine if you have Narcolepsy is to have your doctor schedule you for a multiple sleep latency test (MLST) to diagnose this condition.

I agree talk to your doctor - side effects can be tricky things.

Depression can make you sleep like that and be tired all the time too - so i dont know for sure

Make sure you dont drink, that you eat enough, that your living s healthy as a lifestyle as possible

Take in really really deep breaths nonstop until you pass out. It will be really hard to keep up after a few minutes, but it will knock you out, and the best part is it's harmless.

I had this as a side affect of an antidepressant med that I took. You need to go to your doc and get a med change. Its dangerous! A few YEARS??? What are you waiting for? Really?

maybe the reason is depression and maybe you have narcholepsy (sleep disorder)
