There is no original thought. The source cannot know itself, it is the knowing that is itself. Do you know awareness? What it looks like, feels like, etc.? Is it still not present, at all times? Does this thing called awareness, know itself?

As the one awakens, profound revelations occur, and then someone comes along in judgement and says, Now thats Original. The more cobwebs that are brushed away during awakening, the more is realized. But what is realized has always been there and present.

Great question. Words are such a horrible way of communicating.

The goal is to generate enough randomness such that a threshold is reached and an original thought is seeded.

We can define original thought as a thought that is lacking connectedness to other thoughts. Is an ultimate knowledge and understanding.

I believe it is not possible to have a complete original thought. I say this b/c we all are inspired by things that are around us. So when we make a statement it gets inspiration by something else. Just like poems, songs, hate, love comes from an outside source that we in some way respond to and our thoughts are the same. We choose how we feel, we choose what we think. But we can't go around giving credit to everything that inspires our thoughts b/c then we would spend all day thanking everything around us.

What is original thought ? . . . The thought that awakens mind(s) to the origin of the message of the soul.

Original thought(s) as those are really of the original thought that is seeped out pieces as a time. Hearing a certain thought may not seem original...yet it really is...it's really a dropped ' seed ' stemmed of the original thought just continued on and expressed a bit different...yet still familiar...still seeking the answer to the original thought. And...not only is it possible...it's a continual experience / event that is happening as we speak.

By thoughts being shared...the revealing of the Truth is continually being revealed...to be seen and known more and more...brighter and brighter . . . Enlightenment.

BTY. . . interesting mind...cool question...unique question.

It depends on your perspective.

How often do we assume we are re-incarnated? Is this the first time we've thought this? Or have we thought of this before? Have our roles changed? Is there any possibility we've forgotten something?

Original thought is possible, but I'm currently assuming that an original thought would be a "collective thought".

I'm not sure if "a single mind" can create a new thought?

My view..in my honours thesis..was that original thought is the result of combining 2 or more ideas in a new way.

People who measure more highly on creativity tests are more likely to combine the knowledge they have to produce answers that are original to them.

Creativity though requires an idea to be both new and useful. Originality is not enough for creativity.

Probably not, if that thought is "genuinely" original. A thought that has come about without intentionally getting ideas from others however, would have infinite possibilities.

At least that's how I see it.

The ancient classics did not experience philosophy as the mere ‘learning’ or ‘recital’ of others' thoughts and quotations. They originated thought, albeit fledglingly compared to knowledge and comprehension gained since. And so it is with us today, that if we want to find new, basic understanding, we too, from our new vantage point, must go back to original concepts, to fundamentals -- again thinking things out to their original causes. That is what they were trying to do way back then in their own early fashion, and that is the true meaning of philosophy.

Before there was any thought there was the original thought, and we have been punished for it ever since.
