I had this when I was a kid, but now my 3 year old daughter has got them?
Can I catch them again off her?
If so, am I more immune having had them before?

Following primary infection there is usually lifelong protective immunity from further episodes of chickenpox. Recurrent chickenpox is fairly rare but more likely in people with compromised immune systems.
Once you catch chickenpox, the virus usually remains in your body for your lifetime, kept in check by the immune system. About 1 in 10 adults will experience shingles when the virus re-emerges during a period of stress.

While it is possible to get them again, it is highly unlikely. Chicken Pox is a virus and once the body has a virus it builds immunity. That's how vaccines work. The adult version of Chicken Pox is called Shingles. These are very painful and are contagious. Off the subject, please do not let your daughter know your concerns, she may not understand why she's being treated differently. Good luck and God Bless

You will be immune from catching them again. I have got 4 kids, all of them have gone through chicken pox, and as I had chicken pox as a child, I did'nt catch it again.

The doctors will tell you that you cant, but my daughter did, and both times a doctor diagnosed it. The first was a very mild case (A dozen or so spots) and the second time she had more spots but it didn't seem to last as long or be so bad.
I had chicken pox as a kid, and all 4 of my children have had it at various times, and I didn't get it again.
So can you get it again? - yes. Likely? - no.
Hope that helps.

They are called shingles the second time and they have different symptoms. In rare cases people get the normal Chicken pox twice.

You ARE immune to the chicken pox since you had it when you were younger.

There is an adult version of chicken pox. In the US it is known as "shingles" but adults only get this if they did NOT have chicken pox when they were younger.

You can get them a second time but in the form of shingles it is pretty rare and you would need to be terribly unlucky to catch it. Both my kids had it when they were little and I escaped it, a lot depends on your general health if you are in good health and your immune system is fine you should be alright. good Luck.

No, I don't think you can, as because you had them when you were a kid, you are now immune to the virus. So, you can't catch them off your daughter.

I hate to disappoint you all, but i had them three times as a small child when i was 4, when i was 5 and when i was 7. My doctor has verified this. Although i do believe there are different strains. Shingles is the adult version and can be triggered by extreme stress.
