A pendrive can be used by all versions of windows (After 95) however 2000,XP & Vista have drivers for the drive builtin. For all other versions you will need to provide a driver via cd etc... before the drive can be used.
Drivers are usually downloadable from the mfg's website as well as on the Cd that comes with the pendrive.
