Actually, to turn off both speakers at once, you'll need to interrupt two different wires. To do this you'll need a double-pole switch. You'll just want to cut the positive wire to each speaker and wire the switch in series with the wire. A double-pole switch should have enough terminals for both the left and right speaker wires. Here's one that would work:

What you're looking for is called "double pole single throw" or DPST.

wiring a toggle switch is pretty easy most of the switches you can buy at auto zone, o' reilys or whatever parts house you use. they usually have a wiring diagram. If your front speakers are hooked to an amplifier then all you would have to do is put an inline switch on the remote wire (its usually blue) going from the back of the head unit to the amp. If not on an amp then you would run the positve wires from the front speakers to the toggle switch then to the speaker and run the negative wire staight from the radio to the speakers.

Just go to Radio Shack and get a switch there. You might get a volume control if you wanted to make them louder or turn them off.

But basically, you buy the on/off switch. Then one wire from the speaker you cut. One side goes on one tab and the other wire on the other metal tab, and you are good to go.
