Someone said you do, because they heard it from the news. And some said that you don't because they cancelled that law thing?

Now I am confused, Because if I don't then i don't need to spend 200 bucks to renew my passport. if I do then I should do it now because I have a flight next month.

Only thing I know, Domestic requires a person to bring their California ID and not a Passport

In fact, it is NOT a requirement to have ANY ID to fly (as I've said many times). Everyone says "it's the law" but I'm waiting for someone to actually show me the federal code (hint: there is none).

Probably what you hear on the news was a story about the new passport requirements for travel to/from Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. It is still not required to fly domestically. You will need a government issued id to get through security though.

if you are a US citizen then passport is not required. Foreign national if does not have valid ID as per regulations of the country, should carry valid passport even on domestic flights, sothat in the event of any suspesion you are not taken for a ride.

A passport is not required for US Citizens for domestic travel. Sometimes I bring mine, just for kicks...

I can see it eventually happening. The US government needs money and this is another way for "them" to steal it from the people! (the passport has to be bought thru the government)
