That is where you are wrong. Science and the Bible go hand in hand and often the Scientists will go to the Bible when they need some answers. I don't know where you get your information,. Maybe from five year olds? Try a more reliable source. I got my information from some of the Scientist from Nasa.

What you are doing is parroting what some Christians say that the Bible says.

Perhaps you should read it again.

And perhaps you should stop listening to 5 year olds when it comes to complex matters.

I don't want to end this answer with such a terse mood, so here.

If you care, please read up on the Gap Theory of Genesis 1:1 - 1:2. That takes care of the 6000 year old thing.

If you get a chance, try to listen to a guy named Chuck Missler. He talks about science, he has got a doctorate. Not so that I can change your mind, but so that you could at least know that there is a lot that you don't know about out there.

I can't speak for all religions. But science and christianity don't conflict. What christianity conflicts with is evolution which is not science. The fossils do not show evolution. They actually show complex creatures appearing suddenly during the cambrian explosion with no transitional forms before them. Darwin was aware of that problem. He said "they're out there by the millions.....you should be stumbling over them as you walk out your back door". That's a quote from Darwin. His explanation as to why they hadn't found them yet was that archeology was in it's infant stages at that time. He predicted that after he was dead they would find them by the millions. But here we are 150 years later and they still haven't found any. Stephan J. Gould who was a Harvard paleontolgist and one of the top evolutionists in the world until he died a few years ago said this:"there's a trade secret among the paleontologists of the world.....namely, that the transitional forms don't exist". My question would be...why is it a trade secret? If the evidence doesn't show evolution why don't they tell the world. The reason is because evolution is a religion just like christianity(just read Ann Coulters new book'Godless'). Evolution, like christianity, must ultimately be accepted by faith.
But christianity is faith based upon reason. Evolution is just blind faith based upon nothing. It's no surprise that Gould and Niles Eldridge eventually gave up on darwinian evolution and started a new theory called 'Punctuated Equilibrium', a theory which Richard Goldschmidt(also an evolutionist) called the 'hopeful monster theory' a name he gave to it in derision. He descibed it by saying that a reptile once laid an egg and, VIOLA, out popped a bird. If you believe that, I've got some swampland I'd like to sell you....ON PLUTO.

Because much of the time science is blind, prejudicial, biased, hypocritical and takes bigger leaps of faith than any Christian has ever dreamed of.
Science talks of impartiality and using evidence to determine the truth of things, but when you read into their research, and especially listen to them talk, you will see they are going off just as much if not more blind faith that Christians are. Take for example the "Theory" of Evolution. Do you know why it is still a theory and not a law? Because they cannot find enough evidence to prove it true beyond any reasonable doubt. Yet the majority of biological sciences are based of the presumption of that educated guess. The Big Bang "Theory" and any other theory out there is the same story. Yet science treats them as Laws. Absolute truths that cannot be disproved by any means. I'll stick with religion thank you.

In the begining GOD the problem with you and your 5 year old is that GOD is the one that was alive back then and neither of you were, God does NOT have to be logical HE INVENTED LOGIC, He does NOT have to make scence HE MADE IT, true science and The Holy Does NOT disagree with each other, there is the evidence of Prophecy, Archacology, this bible is just to correct and written by 44 authors over a 1500 year period but the best proof is changed lives and your science can NOT disprove that because one of the folks that i am talking about is typing this message to you. The science a 5 year old knows is flawed. The Bible isn't. The 5 year old probably didn't have a chance to learn the other side of the coin...Christianity. Consider too: Darwin is dead, Jesus is alive. I know of on one that spells Bible CNN.

Science and Religion are two entirely different things. It is like comparing apples and oranges. Science is based on objective criteria, while religion is a leap of faith, inspiration.

God is the same yesterday, today and forever, read your science history, nearly every day something that was once thought to be "scientific" is proved wrong or different than what was once thought to be "fact"
