trying to figure taxes before too late HELP!!

The SS & Medicare tax would be $2,142. The income tax would depend upon your filing status, exemptions, deductions, etc. For a good estimator go to http://www.paycheckcity.com

None of this is meaningful if you're preparing your tax return, however. You'll need to prepare your return to know what your exact tax liability will be.

If you are an employee, your employer should withhold a total of 7.65% for social security and medicare. The amount subject to SS and Medicare may be less than 28k if you have withholding for things like medical insurance, but it should not exceed 7.65% of 28k.

Altogther it's about 18% of your paycheck if you claim only yourself.

You'll have to look at your paycheck to see the exact percentage for each but it totals to about 18-20%.
