I don't think so. They certainly brought shame on themselves.

The Iranian authorities bring shame on Islam on a daily basis with their abysmal human rights record, their cruelty to their own people and their hypocrisy.
The show the Iranians put on with the British sailors was just an exercise in manipulative propaganda and that brings shame on Islam as well because it involved lies and hypocrisy.
It would appear that the whole show was calculated to make the authorities look good in front of the Iranian people and the Iranian people appear stupid enough to believe it.

Unfortunatley most Islamic Countries bring a lot of shame on themselves in the eyes of many liberated countries. They are now seen as the New Dictatorships by many, there laws are repressive and stifle the potential of many people, they allow the preaching of hate and racisim to many within their communities (maybe not intentionally, but through some of the relegion). They persecute non believers and make them into second class citizens.
The Iranians unfortunatley have brought more shame on themselves, not just by the action of the Gaurd, but by the whole parading and threatening behaviour behind the actions of the past few weeks. If they had followed a more careful course, most of the world would now not care what happened, would not be calling for sanctions against the state, not looking at them as a part of the axis of evil group. Instead, arrest, detain, deport without equipment, complete within 24 - 48 hrs and everything would be ok. Then the diplomats could meet, talk and work out a soloution to the problems, instead threats counter threats allegations, all very silly.

The government and diplomats of Iran behaved reasonably well. They had to extricate themselves from a tricky situation without losing face. The people who shamed Islam were the militants who demonstrated and wanted revenge on the sailors and upon the UK.I think part of the problem is an internal struggle in Iran between the government and the Mullahs. Islam as a religion should leave politics to the politicians and concentrate on the spiritual welfare of the country.

Nothing brings shame on Islam, Islam as a faith is perfect, anything contrary to the true teachings of Islam is NOT Islam.
They bring shame on Muslims yes, like what most Arab leaders do.

Do Iranians bring shame on Islam by taking British solders/sailors within Iranian waters?
If Islam is given by God to Muhammad, the actions of men will have no affect.

First you mention that it's the authority that took the soldiars, then you ask if it brings shame to Islam!
You're statement is not right at all, and just to let you know, the soldiars are safe and sound, and have announced that they were treated very well.
Try checking the news, will ya.
Peace.

Not that I can see. How can the actions of the Iranian government really reflect the will of Islam as a culture? And we don't necessarily know all of the facts in this case. I used to work for the military raiding smugglers off the Iranian coast, and there is certainly some room for confusion...

I find myself repeating my previous answers.
The Iranians made the point that it is very imprudent of the RN to patrol in the disputed part of the Shaat al Arab waterway.
They avoided a serious incident and there was minimal loss of face. I cannot see any shame brought upon Islam or the Iranians.

They captured and now released some soldiers who were caught trespassing.

Islam is not a property of any country or a man.
It's a God, The Creator given only way of life from Adam...> Abraham...>Moses>Jesus to Mohammad. (Sorry, could not name the name of many other prophets here) It is we who have divided the God given one way of life into different forms and names.
Islam has its own good form above any abuse or ignorance.
By releasing the 15 army persons, Iran definitely has shown that they mean no harm and they are as good as any other.
