I went to the Emergency Room last night, and they did a CT Scan. Came to find out i have a 2 millimeter kidney stone. They told me it would pass. How long does it take for it to pass? And also, will it hurt when i urinate it out?

Sorry to tell you this, but patients often say, "PASSING A KIDNEY STONE HURTS LIKE HELL!" (Yes, in capital letters) Especially if you are a man.

It's probably moving right now, if it's causing pain. Drink plenty of water to help flush it out. There's no telling exactly how long it might take to pass. Could be tomorrow. Could be a couple of weeks. One things for sure.. you'll know when it's moving.

I Just Went To The Emergency Room 2 Or 3 Nights Ago & Found Out I Also Had A Kidney Stone. When I Went, I Heard It Was Halfway Through & Still It Has Not Come Out. I Heard It Would Take A Few Days, But If You Drink A Lot Of Water, It Will Help A Little Bit With The Pain & Will Help Push The Stone Along. Good Luck With Everything!

There is no average time of when a kidney stone will pass Some never do and a person needs an ultra sound treatment to break up the stone so it passes;

I passed two stones with in a few hours

Did the doctors tell you to strain your urine to see if you can catch the stone?

Drink lots of water When the pain gets bad get some pain medication or go to the ER.

You should be able to pass it when you urniate And it will hurt.

Kidney stone can be painful depending on the size.
Drink tons of fluids to flush it out
But avoid food high in calcium(milk, cheese,yogurt diary products) as this may increase the size of the stone
Water also has a lot of calcium especially bottled water unless it is distilled. A water filter on the tap is the cheapest
Use a small strainer to catch the stone as you can get this analysed. There are different stone types and you may have to avoid what the stone is made of from your diet

I agree -- You'll know when it's moving out and getting ready to be passed. I had a severe kidney infection and I had to pass two large kidney stones. It literally does hurt like the fiery pits of hell. It burns in your kidneys and then it hurts when you end up pissing it out.

I wish you luck. You WILL know.
