The Concorde was designed back in the 1960s and think made it's maiden flight in c1969. Saw it fly over London I think in 69. Too high up though to really enjoy. Someone told me it was going to fly lower and roar overhead. Shame.
Before the demise of Concorde, the fabulous Air France Concorde's used to arrive over my house en-route to Heathrow. A wonderful thunder in the sky. Pity it's gone. A great aeroplane built by the French and British. Something to be proud of.
Say it out loud - ROLLS ROYCE OLYMPUS.

MAiden flight was in 1969, first commercial flight was in 1976. Trainging flights were based at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire for some of the time. I was living near there at the time and saw it regularly, magnificent plane, sad that it has now gone from our skies.
