My cat is a neuterd male, 1.5 years old. I have had him since he was 6 weeks old and have never heard him purr. He is usually a moody cat but sometimes he will be real nice and try to cuddle me, even then I love on him and try to be really super nice but he still won't purr. What is wrong with him?

Some cats are very stingy with their purrs. If he's real nice and cuddly, maybe he's purring deep inside. If he's moody, he's just being a cat. Some have quiet almost non-existent purrs and others sound like an idling diesel engine. (I had a cat I called Diesel until I found him a new home). I don't think there's anything wrong with your cat. He's just a bit reserved.

Try picking a special hour of the day to make it his time and usually the same room. Pick him up and talk to the him and tell him hes a good boy and so on,. Cats can sense if you love them or not so," if you really love this little guy tell him and the purring will come just be patient.... Keep doing this everyday.. Good Luck

Dont worry about it! Ok, so we all love to hear our cats purr as its a sign that they are happy! Our cat though didnt learn how to purr until he was about 8 years old. Then he suddenly started this really loud rusty sounding purr! I reckon that he did always purr, just that it was silent.
If he responds to your strokes and will play with you and interact with you, I dont think you have anything to worry about.

Your cat takes good, fibrous food. You too take to avoid padu, purr, wind, gas, etc. O.K.
