I always thought it ended on Easter morning. My daughter informs me that it ends on Holy Thursday. I also never knew that you never count Sundays when you count the forty days of Lent. So really you could of had a soda every Sunday and you can definitely have soda on Easter. Happy Easter.

The idea of giving up something for Lent came from the Catholic Church, not God. On Easter Sunday, enjoy your party with all the soda pop you want.

Easter Sunday at noon the bells will be "released", i.e. they will announce the resurrection of Jesus.
At this moment you will feel free to enjoy the Easter parties and drink your soda.

For myself, i do no longer "note" Lent... i have self assurance that's a contrived "journey." hence, for myself, what by no potential "starts off" won't be able to have an end. Lent is a 40-day era, counted decrease back from Easter. Ergo, Easter is the end of Lent. each man or woman is entitled to my opinion.

Lent and Holy Week are over for you when you attend Easter Mass (be it Vigil on Saturday or on Sunday) and hear the celebrant proclaim "Christ is Risen!".

It ends when you rely on God instead of traditions of men. Otherwise, Lent is in the heart steering you away from loving God. People tend to do it because they think that they are doing something good. By what you just asked, there isn't the attitude of a person who is lovingly committing himself to God. Rather, you are doing it to satisfy your own conscience. There is no eternal reward there. Those that fast don't talk about it, otherwise, there is their reward. Their reward is from people's view.
Please, you don't have the heart for fasting. Prepare yourself by getting close to God first. Then fast when no one else knows, and everyone else is looking the other way. The traditions are flat. They carry no weight with God.
