I was doing genealogy research on my father's side of the family and found out that my distant relative was Sir Moses Montefiore who was knighted and good friends of Queen Victoria. There is the windmill named after him as well as a medical center named after him. My cousin Simon-Sebag Montefiore is a historian who writes about Stalin and is close friends with Prince Charles and Camila. Anyone have famous relatives. Is this a cool find?

That is very SUPER cool!

I am related to President Eisenhower on my dad's side and Lady Kemp ( however she was) from France on my mom's side. My mom maiden name is Winchester, direct descendant from the maker of Winchester rifles and relatives that Winchester England were named for. I'm told the Icenhower's are related to 4 presidents, but I have only found the one.

Congratulations on your great find! You might want to check out Yahoo Groups, they have a lot of genealogy groups that share info etc. I found some distant relatives that I talk with almost daily. Good Luck searching , may you find many more relatives to be proud of.

ya that's cool if ur in to that sort of thing. i did a search about my family and found that i really am of Irish descent on one side and Scott on the other, to me that was cool.really don't care if those past relatives are famous or not, because my life is now not then. I'm just happy that i could find info about my Irish and Scottish ancestors cause that means they were of some prominence, because there is a record of them. because those that left Europe at that time to come to the U.S.were not all recorded.

I am a direct descendant of Charlemagne.
Of course, a lot of people are by now.
And I am descended from one of the original settlers of Jamestown, Virginia: John Chew. He knew Pocahontas and Capt. John Smith.
And my dad fought in WWII.

I executed maximum of mine, as far as i ought to, with annoying queries left, some 30 years in the past. It genuinely gave me a satisfied feeling of understanding who i became and from whence I had come. it would properly be very humbling, giving an perception into heritage and that i have frequently puzzled why it really is not on a school curriculum. on the grounds that we are all actually "egocentric", i ought to have discovered heritage more advantageous exciting if having got here across my roots, I then had the job of having to comprehend how the ancestors lived and what existence became like for them in England decrease back in the 18th, seventeenth, 16th Centuries. I had a grandfather who turned right into a bigamist at the same time as the different died in a psychological well being center; a Gt. grandfather who became brewer and drank himself to lack of life on the age of 39, a grandmother who died of a G.I. bleed at the same time as merely 52 (she probable does no longer have died now), a Gt. grandmother who suffered from peritonitis for 3 days earlier she died (an undemanding appendectomy now, perhaps?). I genuinely have an ex-chief of the Liberal celebration on my tree and a kin of bargemen. I genuinely have a Lord chief Justic of attraction and miners/coal hauliers who began artwork in the pits on the age of 8, operating an 8-hour shift after strolling 4 miles to the pit then dealing with a 4 mile walk domicile at nighttime - their merely education being waiting to "discovered to study and write a touch at a Wesleyan Sunday college" (from a authorities inspector's record into the employment of toddlers in the pits) I genuinely have a convict deported to oz.in 1829 for stealing £2 hundred (it is as strong as having a Ronnie Biggs, tremendous practice Robber in the kin!). some fashionable, some no longer. a pair somewhat notorious! To me, extremely substantial. And why did some ancestors come from France to marry in Devon decrease back in the late1500's? the right until eventually eventually very last - my 10th cousin's mom turned right into a cousin of the Princess of Wales, so i wager that makes me about 3 millioneth in line to the Throne!!!
