No, sulphur doesn't spontainously combust with air (not with out an ignition point) but phosphorus does, that's why is stored in oil. In New Zealand the hot Springs give off sulphur and its not burning.

It can. Solid sulfur can be ignited with a match and burns with a blue flame.
