Is it just me or is it a complete disrespect for others who are minding there own buisness. Why can't you just let people believe the way they want to believe, and leave them alone. There is no way anyone is going to come to god because some weirdo walks up to you on the street with a bible. Unless they are doing it for attention, what is the point? Oh and BTW you aren't going to convert any atheists, so why try? We leave you alone?????

Hey those atheist that ***** and moan about every little thing need to get a life, but they aren't coming up to you on the street they are going through the proper channels to change things to be "Constutional" because there is no 1 religion in the us that we need to live by according to the constitution.
Personally I do not care if my money says "under god" or not. I care if some right wing religious wacko bothers me in my free time.

To Maddogcroq: Yes Environmentalist, and Peta members are annoying as hell. That is true, but when was the last time you were in the park sitting on a bench and one of them walked up to you and started spewing. They don't, you usually run into them when they are Protesting, and being another blight on the planet earth. As annoying as they may be No group of people alienates others as much as the Evangelical Christian/pentacostal/Jehovas Witness groups. That is undenilable.

To Kimmie: I am not shallow enough to think that all christians are out on the street pushing there views on others. You are one of the good ones. I have a great deal of respect for you, one who has faith but keeps it as it should be, a personal thing. I thumbs up your answer because people like you deserve to be respected. Faith is a difficult thing and you keep it personal. Thank you for answering. IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM AM I SPEAKING TO ALL CHRISTIANS. (Just the annoying evangelical, pushy, personal space invading ones.)

I see what you're saying. That used to annoy me too. It still annoys me when, since I've become a Christian, people of other denominations try to get me into theirs. Excuse me, but I've made my choice.
But I understand why they do it. You have to understand that Christians are TOLD in the Bible to go spread the word. We're not supposed to do it for "attention", and no, we don't win a toaster if we convert twenty people. However, at a hundred, we do win a car. Ha ha.
Besides, you're right. Christians can't convert anyone. All we can do is tell them about it. THEY then make the choice to convert or not.
I've gotten PLENTY of atheists who try to get me to convert too. They call me an idiot because I believe in God. And the funny thing is, I used to be like them, so I understand them perfectly.
The only place that I don't mind POLITE (key word, that) proselytizing is here. However, many people (of all faiths and lack of) are NOT polite. You get the Christians who tell you you're going to hell, and you get the atheists who tell you you're stupid for believing in a fairy tale. NEITHER of those are polite.
However, I do try to be polite, even (and especially) when I'm trying to educate someone about my beliefs, and WHY I believe.

First of all you are putting all Christians in one group. Meaning we are all the same and spend our lives just trying to convert people. Not true. I am a Christian and have never disrespected anyone Else's view. My own sister is an atheist and I have no problem with that. Also, You are targeting Christians like they are the only religion who try to spread their word. Every religion thinks they are right, and they will tell you, that you are wrong for not believing it. Some religions, like in the middle east, tell their follows to kill non believers. Just be thankful Christians don't.
As for atheists leave Christians alone, not true at all. You have never told a Christan that god doesn't exist?
I'm sorry that you were offended by someone of the Christian religion but we are not all like that. Every group has their "bad apples"
Take Care and God Bless...J/K!!!

First of all, you wrongly place every Christian in this collective basket of yours. I for one, don't fit into this catagory.
As a Christian, I can freely express my views and beliefs. There is no way I can "convert" anyone. Did you hear that? I cannot convert anyone. I can share my faith with those who will take the time to listen, and if they come to believe in God, then so be it. That is a personal choice that they make.
Christians are commanded to share the Gospel, and by doing so, they are being obedient to God. Just because you do not like them doing it, does not mean that they need to stop. If you don't want to hear it, say so, be polite, and move on.
I don't do what I do for attention. For what purpose does that serve?
I've NEVER seen an atheist leave me alone. Never. They spend more time trying to disprove something that they claim they don't believe in. If you don't believe, then why waste your time trying to disprove it? I don't believe in Martians, so I don't get all hostile with people trying to make endless points that they don't exist. Why would I waste the energy?
My advise to you....... If you don't believe in God.........then don't. No one is twisting your arm. In my opinion, you have not weighed out the facts nearly as well as you could have, and I'm sorry that you came to a premature conclusion. But I cannot change that, can I? But Christians have the right to speak their beliefs, just as you do in rejecting their beliefs.

Pushing religious views on others is not a good Christian trait, and not the correct way to go about showing others the grace of Jesus Christ. I am just one little person who doesn't have all the answers, but I have learned that a good way that Christians should help teach others about Jesus is to make a good example, behave as He would, be kind and non-judgemental to non-believers, help people out and just be a kind, giving, even-tempered, caring person overall. When you live your life this way, others become curious about where your peace comes from and will ask. Then it is the appropriate time to talk to them about Jesus and God (gracefully, of course).

Some christians feel very strongly about their belifes. The Christian religion for the most part is still useing anchent methods to induce growth. But you need to be pahent with them because they are ignorant of your prespective. They think that sence beliveing in God, or Jesus or whatever, made them happy that it will make you happy too. they don't understand that they are not the only ones who worship God, and Jesus was not the only messanger. they also don't understand that some people don't wish to pay tribute to a higher power, or even acknolege its presence. Its because they are doing what they think is right. I guess what you think is right and what they think is right are two difrent things. It will make life easyer if you just accept this.

Christians don't try to change a persons mind while in the street. Their goal is to plant a seed in a persons heart. Whether they are close to God or not we hope that it helps them get closer in one way or another. Oh and about converting an atheist, its actually easier than changing a persons religion, it's not impossible, because I did change someones life for the better with the help of God.

Usually i find that those people that come up to you are new to religion. Ever notice its not the minister that's walking up to you but rather some one from the congregation? It just that usually these people have found some sort of peace & want to share...they have good intention & sometimes dont understand that their zeal for their new found happiness can be quite offensive to others. My father was a minister and he always taught us that shoving religion down ones throat is a sure way to push people further away.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. This is Yahoo Answers. When a person asks a question...and is given an answer, and the answer happens to be from a Christian....and Christians use the bible to answer questions about Jesus or God...how is that "pressing one's views" on another? You don't have to believe it.
Asking questions in R&S and getting replies from the bible...and getting upset over them...is sort of like taking your car to a car wash and pitching a fit when someone tries to wash it.

If you are being approached by people bringing the word of God to you then God is calling you. Don't turn away from him. He is giving you opportunities to receive salvation but one day there won't be another chance to believe and receive eternal life. If there is a heaven then there must be a hell and we will all be in one or the other place after we die. Don't be alienated from eternal life because you misunderstand people's religious views. Find out what they're talking about before you throw out the unopened gift of eternal life.
