First of all, you have a Miniature Pinscher. There is no such thing as a miniature doberman...they are two completely different breeds. Min Pins are over 100 years older than the Doberman breed. LOL ..Second of all...if you feel there is something wrong and your vet doesn't agree....trust your insticts and get a second opinion. Your dog will thank you.

No he's not going crazy. There may not be any medical reason for it. He may be seeing or hearing something that you don't. There are bugs that are very small and hard for a human to see.
As far as having a Miniature Doberman..there is no such thing..you have a Miniature Pinscher (which is a totally differentand older breed from a Doberman even though they look very similar) .

1) You have a Miniature Pinscher, there is nothing Doberman about it. They are 2 separate breeds in no way related.
2) If you think something is wrong get a consultation with a different vet at a different clinic
3) Sometimes puppies just act goofy, so if the additional vets say nothing is wrong, maybe you just have a wacky puppy who's trying to entertain himself.

This sounds like a form of obsessive compulsive behaviour, not uncommon with dogs, like tail chasing or shadow chasing. It's not serious unless it really gets to be extreme. Try to ignore him or distract him into some other form of behaviour because he may be doing it to get attention. You could contact a good animal behaviourist if it gets worse.

Hi there, as the owner of three min pins, I can tell you that they are highly intelligent individuals. "Pin's" have excellent hearing, and more than likely he can hear something and is trying to find/see what it is. One of my "kids" does the same...at first we thought what was he doing, but upon watching him, discovered that he could "hear" the insect but couldn't quite make out where it was. Very intelligent is what I say...but that's very typical of this breed. Cheers.
