Really confused on some of the contradictory answers. Also, why are people assuming that I'm planning on doing this? It's just a question.

Yes. Its called fraud.
PS - I doesn't matter if you have problems as a result about the non reported incident. If the seller tells you that the car has not been in an accident and it has he has just conducted consumer fraud. If you bought the car from him and didn't ask if the car had any trouble then it would most likely not be fraud although some courts might rule otherwise if they believe that the seller has a responsibility to report this.
(sorry for the blunt answer).

If it has been, yeah its fraud. Second, if you or whoever is buying the car i would take it to your mechanic to make suree its ok and none of the frames are bent on the front end, which can screw alot of things up in the long run. Guy selling it sounds shady to begin with.

Yes,but you should always get a car fax done on the Vin #.If the car was reported in an accident it would show up.You could find car fax info. on kbb.com.

Illegal in the sense that you'll be prosecuted and tossed in jail? Probably not.

But if this went to civil court, the judge would certainly penalize you.

It must be reported if it was in an accident also if it has a salvage title

yes it is.If you can prove that they knew it was in an accident you can file charges against them if the fact that it was in an accident makes it unsafe to opperate or prone to mechanical failure

ILLEGAL in most states not to mention immoral and dishonest and if you do that remember what goes around comes around and I hope you get exactly what you got comming.
