Ah the Mormon missionaries. Some of the coolest people Ive ever met. I went to a LDS church for a while and I found out some pretty interesting stuff. Ask them these questions when you talk to them tomorrow and see if they can give you an answer. (1.) Why do you baptize for dead people, when the bible says you shouldn't. (1 Cor 15:29) (2.) Ask them why do they think Jesus is Satan's brother. (3.) Ask them why do they say the church ended when the bible says the church lasts through all ages (Eph. 3:21). (4.) Ask them why the Book of Mormon contradicts the bible (Mark15:33 Vs 2Nephi25:23). The bible says 3 hours of darkness BOM says days. (5.) Also ask them about special underwear. I got alot more, but this should do. Don't be afraid to ask them these questions. They're not bad people. They're just mislead. Good luck tomorrow.

We love holidays. We are looking forward to celebrating Easter and the ressurection of our Lord. We absolutely adore Christmas. And we celebrate birthdays and other holidays. We also have General Conference 2 times a year which feels like a sacred, holy...well...holiday! It's almost a feeling of letdown when it's over. Just like the 26th of December.
Women usually wear skirts to church. If you do go to church but don't have a skirt, don't sweat it. You're not going to be run out of town. We use our "Sunday best" for going to meetings.
As far as being strict, we abstain from alcohol, smoking, street drugs, coffee and tea. We pay a tithe...this is 10% and it goes to the poor, to the construction and maintenance of our churches and temples, helping missionaries, helping relief efforts, etc. We abstain from extramarital sex.
We believe that Jesus is the Christ and that he atoned for our sins. We believe in the Book of Mormon. It is intended as a companion scripture to the Bible...in no way does it replace the Bible. The BOok of Mormon is the record of an ancient people who lived on this continent, around the time of Christ. It testifies of Christ and shows of his tender mercies...not just to the Jews, but to all mankind.
Joseph Smith was the founder of the LDS church. He was our first (but by no means last) prophet in these, the last days. Of him it has been said that no man has done more for the salvation of mankind than Joseph Smith, save it were Jesus Christ.
Many people have given you good answers here. And many people have sent you to the apologetics. Just keep in mind when you are reading their sites that disgruntled people very often misrepresent that with which they are angry.
Good luck. Talk to the missionaries and decide for yourself.

I'm Mormon. We do celebrate holidays (it's the JW's that don't) Women wear skirts, but not all the time, just like other women don't wear skirts all the time. Our dress code is to just dress modestly, so it's unlikely you'll see any Mormon wearing see through anyting unless there's something under it. We do have a general diet we strive to follow, I'll include it in the links below. Some of what you find here may sound a little far fetched, some may be simply not true about our beliefs. Listen to the missionaries, their message is true and they can answer your questions. You can also go to the sites below for more info. They are offical church websites.
You will/have undoubtedly gotten links to sites that are against Mormons. All I can say is, who do you go to when you want the truth? Someone who believes it's the truth, or someone who believes it's not the truth?

I am a member of the LDS church. What do you mean that the women have to wear skirts, do you mean all of the time? No we do not wear skirts or dresses all of the time. Yes we do wear them on Sundays when we go to church and some other ocassions we wear them but we do not wear them to work not unless we want to or it is our dress code. I have provided a great website for you so you can look it is http://www.mormon.org/welcome/0,6929,403-1,00.html I hope that you take a look at it. Those two missionaries that were at you door step will tell you more about the church and Joseph smith and the book of Mormon. I would encourage you to let them in and just hear what they are going to say, it does not mean that you have to join the church right then. If you have any more questions you can feel free to email me and i will get back to you the best that i can.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about Mormons. I am LDS, and I am shocked at what people say about what I believe. The only way to really know what we believe is to ask us. We believe in Christ, and in God and in the atonement and resurrection. Many of our beliefs are explained at www.mormon.org, and lds.org is another good referrence if you want to search for a specific topic.
We celebrate how everyone else does, except we don't drink or smoke, and we believe in saving for marriage.
Women can wear whatever they want as long as it is modest. The same goes for men. Joseph Smith was called of God to restore the truth of the gospel to the earth. People have many different views of Joseph Smith, but the missionaries will teach you about what he did. It is up to you if you believe what they say or not. The Book of Mormon is the record of fallen people in the Americas. Again, the missionaries will most likely go over this tomorrow, and if not you can ask them any questions you have.

I am a Mormon and I think what I should tell you is the easiest way for you to find these things out is to ask them when they stop back by. The big thing we believe is that it is the true church on earth at this time. I was contacted just about three years ago now. I love this religion and thank God and the missionary's that come to me! Look back on a few of my answers to questions asked on here to find out what we believe if you like. I would like to say however that while most are answered in a manner that the church teaches if any mistakes were made they are my own not the churches. However my views are well with in the churches teachings most of the time I believe.

I am LDS. It stands for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. aka Mormon
1. Women only where skirts to church it is a Sunday dress thing. It is not like you have to where a skirt everyday.
LDS is a religion that believers in every Christian holiday. It's not really a strict religion. Joseph Smith restored the gospel that was not around during the dark ages. We do not worship Joseph Smith he was a prophet of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ. It does not take place of the bible it adds on to it. If you want to message me about anything at all you can email me.

nefer= There are Mormons of all races, My husband is Indian and LDS.
Mormonism is not that strict, some people might see differently. We follow the word of wisdom. This means we keep our bodies healthy, eat fruits, vegetables, fish, ect. We also do not drink alcohol, smoke, take recreational drugs or have hot drinks like coffee and tea that contain caffeine. We celebrate holidays! Women do not have to wear skirts, they can wear whatever they please, however when going ot church most women tend to wear skirts as a way of dressing up nicely for church, just like men wear suits.
We also believe in eternal marriage, not just marriage "till dreath do us apart" this is one of the main reasons why we have temples, so we can get married and "sealed" for all eternity, meaning our families will be together forever.
Also in the temple we perform baptisms for the deceased, we do this so that people who did not have a chance ot hear Jesus' gospel will be able to hear accept and be baptized in what we call the spirit world ( place you go before being judged) I don't knwo if the missionaries have taught you the plan of salvation, but it is truly amazing! I hope all goes well, pray to Heavenly Father he won't let you down! And good luck! You are on the right path!

Far too many people get hung up on the curiosities of the Mormon faith. The important areas to concentrate on is the doctrine and Gospel of Jesus Christ and the two missionaries will help you understand it better. Please invite them in and communicate with them.
I've been a Latter-day Saint since September 1965 and I know that this church is true, that the true priesthood of God is with us, and that through Jesus Christ we may once again return to the Father for the eternities to come.
Please remember that the Book of Revelation was only one of the books not enjoined to the Bible until much later. As to adding to the "book" I draw your attention to Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32. For the strict accuser we would have to discard all the subsequent books of the Bible and use only the books leading up to and including Deuteronomy 4:1.
Many of the responses to your question are accurate, but like the world itself, other replies are distorted and gleefully twist the truths of this Church so they can match the responder's character.
If you want some immediate answers go to our Heavenly Father in secret prayer with a contrite spirit. You may consider fasting beforehand. Ask the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, if these things are true or not.
The young missionaries will not preach at you nor raise their voices in righteous indignation. They will present valuable lessons to you and in the end it will be your choice. Study and then pray over their messages.

I know that you must have a lot of questions! I will try to answer what I can ... without writing a novel. I grew up LDS, but I don't know everything. Mormons do celebrate holidays, the women do not have to wear skirts. The men are only allowed to have one wife. The religion is not too strict. Mormons are not supposed to drink alcohol or coffee, smoking is also not allowed. Mormons are very family oriented and large families are encouraged. Sex before marriage is forbidden. The fellows you said that came to visit you are missionaries. They are probably about 19 or 20 years old. They will give you a few lessons and ask you to kneel and pray with them. Their goal is to teach you a few lessons and then baptize you. Take it slow............ once you are baptized into the church it's not easy to have your name removed from membership. The LDS church is not a cult, but it's not for everyone. Attend church services for awhile, get to know what it's all about. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and I attended church every Sunday until I was about 16. I still live in a very Mormon neighborhood, and although I do not attend church my neighbors are still very friendly and giving. Did I mention that I live in Utah .... just a few miles away from Temple Square.? If you have questions you can email me and I will try to answer what I can.

Mormons dress a little more conservatively than the world, but I would be willing to bet that there are a lot more Mormons where you live than you think there are. I wear skirts in the summer, mostly because they are much cooler than pants, and I don't wear shorts.
We celebrate holidays, but probably not as intensely as other Christians, especially like Easter. We do celebrate it, but not Lent or Ash Wednesday or Palm Sunday or Maundy Thursday (still haven't figured out what that is) or anything like that.
The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was chosen as the first prophet of this last dispensation of time, to first find and translate the Book of Mormon, then to restore Christ's church and His priesthood to us as it was first established.
As far as being strict, God expects much from His children, but we choose whether or not we want to follow His commandments. One does not have to follow Him, but then one denies oneself the blessings of following Him.
