Some types of cancer can go to stage four and still be curable.
Lance Armstrong had stage three (US rating system) or stage four (European classification) testicular cancer with brain and lung mets and he appears to be cured.
Some types of high grade stage four lymphoma are now curable with bone marrow or stem cell transplants. These lymphomas were completely incurable before about eight years ago.

Like with all cancer treatments success is still a crap shoot but things are changing all the time. By cure I am saying a durable remission with no recurrences constitutes being cured. Time will tell if the cancer will return in twenty ot thirty years but right now it looks like there are numerous new cures for certain cancers and the list is growing all the time.
Many types of cancer however remain incurable once a person reaches stage four disease.

4th Stage cancer is not cureable. No matte the type of cancer, even if it could have been cured if caught earlier, cannot be cured at this stage.
In 4th Stage cancer, the cancer has moved beyond the original site and infected the muscles, other body organs, skin, brain, and bones.
It is important to make sure the person experiencing 4th Stage cancer be as comfortable as possible and be allowed to live life however they choose to do so. They should be allowed to live life to the fullest and make sure every day counts.
There is no exact time table for how long a person has in 4th Stage cancer.
Most cancers have four stages:
Stage I—a tumor is localized, limited to the area where it started, 75% chance of cure
Stage II—the disease has spread to the lymph node(s), 50% chance of cure
Stage III—cancer is locally advanced or has spread to nearby tissues, 25% chance of cure
Stage IV—disease has metastasized, or has spread to distant tissues or organs, slim chance of cure and generally end of life

Stage 4 breast cancer is not curable. There are things that can be done to slow the disease, but if she is on morphine only that is not the route they are going. Unless this has been ongoing and she is no longer responding to treatment. All of these things would have been discussed with your mother and it would have been up to her to decide what she wanted to do.

Yes, it is possible sometimes, but it depends upon the individual circumstances: whether the person is dedicated enough to do the work that is required (taking the time to learn and research as much as possible; being willing to do the necessary work to change their diet and lifestyle); and how much of the immune system is intact after the ravages of chemotherapy and radiation. Note that even if not cured, these changes often lengthen a cancer patient's life and improve the quality of life left.
In addition to being a Reiki master, I am a naturopathic doctor with experience helping "hopeless" cancer cases; currently, I'm working with a 17 year old boy with 6 brain tumors who was supposed to have died 14 months ago. I was diagnosed with lung cancer about 2 years ago, which I treated naturopathically and is now gone. I also work with helping people to integrate "alternative" medicine with conventional cancer therapy to mitigate the ravaging damage done to the body and its immune system by chemotherapy and radiation.
Most people that I've tried to work with before are not sufficiently motivated to work at beating cancer, finding excuses such as "I'd rather pop pills or take IV chemo and radiation than change my diet and lifestyle", or "Chemotherapy is covered by insurance but a good diet and herbs aren't", but occasionally I find a person willing to do the necessary work to get well. I have been helping people for free, but they will need to purchase the necessary foods and supplements from their own sources (or they can compare prices with where I buy my own supplements. I make no commissions on them.)
A good website with a lot of useful information (including some cures of stage 4 "hopeless" cases in comas) is www.cancertutor.com. Also see my site: www.distance-healer.com/18.html and the "Liver" and "Herbs for Chemo/Rad" pages.

Asking a question like this is to invite all the alternative treatment and religous miracle people out to peddle their "cure". With the wide variety of "treatments" with no proven efficacy, do you honest believe any of these work?
Cancer is not a curable disease. Remission is the word to be used. Extremely rarely, people have achieved complete and indefinite remissions while in stage IV of cancer.

nothing is curable concerning cancer that we know of except miracles which in God's hands. There are natural options however. A product which helped cancer controlled to safer levels from advanced stages is one that my girlfriend took for her cancer as well. If you would like to know more, IM me or send me an email. For testimonies on how this has helped with so many health issues, contact the site below. Besure to listen to the message by Dr. Tootla, one of the world's most respected cancer surgeons, here in Michigan. If you want to know more about it contact me on bottom of site.
