You call that similar? Try reading about the Greek's Vine God Dionysus ..... Child from a virgin birth impregnated by a god, turn water to wine, walk on water, prosecuted by the authorities .... bla bla bla :)

You did say "ancient folklore" didn't you...... the history channel and the vast stories of the Knights Templar are primarily "juiced up" ancient folklore.... look up the word folklore in a good dictionary.(you can find some good free dictionary searches her on the net)
There is more documented proof of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection than there is about Alexander the Great, and no one argues to existance of Alexander!
How many real people wrote about the "after-resurrected" life of this egyptian who was killed and came back to life? What kind of works, miracles and wonders did he perform and how many witnessed his ascension to the heavens after 7 weeks of resurrected life?
Was this egyptians death, burial and resurrection ever prophesied?
I don't know these answeres about the egyptian, but I do have it in good writings all about Christ's death, burial and resurrection.
Good luck in your biblical studies. Besides having faith in the written word of God, there is also the fact that the History channel and other such programs, such as Mysteriies of the Bible are secular programs produced for the entertainment of a general audience and should never be considered truthfull translations of the Bible. Only the Bible can translate the Bible. If one verse cannot be backed up by 2 or more verses, then you need to look into some of the better Bible Commentaries.
Again, good luck and keep asking the hard questions

The resurrected Jesus Christ was seen by over 500 men, plus an unknown number of women and children.
What evidence was given of this Pharaoh being brought back from the dead? Any witnesses? Why would one obscure claim by the History Channel be the same as a very well-documented event in history?
Actually, I don't see the similarity.

If you were watching that as a National Geographic documentary, I woke up to it while it was on. They said that the Knight's Templar were in the Temple at Jerusalem, and I hate waking up to stupid things. It always happens to me when I fall asleep watching discovery or whatever.
I wouldn't believe everything I heard on National Geographic. I know that they have an american Tradition, and have become a very respected magazine, but on television they can't be trusted.

None of it matters. Do you agree with what Jesus taught? whether the legends are true or not, whether there's heaven or not, was it the truth? Is it correct that we ought to pray for our enemies and turn the other cheek, and love our neighbors and take care of widows and orphans and love God with all our might? That's the only question you need the answer to, and you can answer that question yourself. The rest is trivial. Unless you need a reward or punishment to motivate you, like pavlov's dog. No worries, though. You will evolve.

Unlike most atheists, Satan has studied every aspect of God's Plan in order to find ways to defeat it. I am not surprised that he would put similar stories out ahead of time in a deliberate effort to discredit the real thing. The story of Hercules also has commonality with the life of Jesus. But there is only one Only Begotten Son of God.

Yes, you saw it on the history channel. I wonder if the producer of that show was a Christian or an atheist. That is why the Word of God says that we should study to shew ourselves approved. So that when someone comes to you with anything you know that is not in the Bible, you can cast that spirit down because you know where it came from. May God Bless U.

Did you know that spiritual history should be taught by spiritual believers and not by T.V? If you would like to study history, I perfure you research your own answers. The athiests control the media. They also found the body of jesus in one of thier shows. Which obviouslly came up false. Hee, hee, hee.Oh! and one more thing in another show they found the worlds smallest person. That the athiests came miracelously up with, and it was made up of chicken bones and other things. That is their way of denouncing our father in heaven. Please look for jesus, and I thank you for asking this question. God bless you and may he enlighten you.

Dear Uiop B,
The difference is that there is historical evidence for the resurrection of Christ. Arachaeology, as well as prophecy (prophecy from 500 years before Christ was born-- as to how he would die). That is quite different from folklore. The existence, death, and resurrection of Christ is not founded on myth- but on solid fact that are supported historically and biblically.
Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

Christians won't explain it... but isn't it convenient that there were many stories of resurrection prior to the story of Jesus. All of those stories were probably passed around among the cultures and they each adopted it.
