TAKE this pup to a vet!
Surgery is your only option. The longer you wait, the worse the obstruction can become. If you don't have the money, perhaps the vet can arrange a financing program for you.
If you just can't spare any cash, take the puppy to the local (non-kill) Humane Society, sign over the puppy, and let them take over the cost of care. It may hard for you, but it's the best thing for your puppy. Better to love this dog and let it go to someone else than allow it to die.

Hi,
I suppose the short answer is 'buy another pair' but, quite obviously, you are worried about your pet.
Don't worry too much, the digestive juices in dogs are pretty potent, the sock, if it was a woollen sock will be partially dissolved until it passes in the normal way. If the sock was made of synthetic materials it will take longer, but it WILL eventually happen.
There's no real need to take your puppy to the vet unless he starts to show discomfort and pain. If the sock doesn't reappear after a week and your dog is still unable to keep his food down then, I'm afraid, you may need the vet...though not necessarily surgery
Dogs have a pretty good digestive system and they tend to know what is best for them (except for eating things they shouldn't, of course) and it may be that the reason for your puppy bringing his food back is that the system has decided the sock will dissolve better if the acid in the stomach is not diluted by extra food...and it is still trying to digest the sock.
So don't worry too much...we took in a stray dog a few months ago (Chico) who ate a big piece out of a blanket. We watched him carefully and it took about five days for the 'evidence' to show and two days for it to clear.
Good luck anyway, hope everything comes out OK (not to put too fine a point on it!)

If he cannot keep any food down, he probably has an obstruction. You can try giving some canned pumpkin and see if he will pass it with some extra fiber, but if he is not keeping any kibble down, chances are that the pumpkin will come back up, too. Unfortunately, surgery may be your only option, I would get xrays done first. You could check with your local vet office and ask if payments may work. Also, some towns have organizations that offer financial assistance. Your local vet offices or shelters may have some information about those types of organizations. I hope your puppy gets better.

if your puppy ate the sock a few days ago and is now throwing up, i would be concerned that the sock has blocked his digestive system. this is really serious. the dog needs to go to the vet asap - it's an emergency as something could rupture. even if you can't afford surgery, there might be something else the vet can do or they may have payment options or funds available. take your dog to the vet now!

This is a pretty critical situation if the dog is still not eating and drinking. Sometimes the sock will "pass" through the system - if there is a blockage, I don't think you have another option. Perhaps try something more minimal like an x-ray so you can see where it is - that can give you more information about what decision you need to make.

A visit to the vet is your only safe option if you want your puppy to grow up. This is a learning situation for you, just like new parents have to learn not to leave small objects around with toddlers. Young animals try everything, so keep the house picked up, and get a book on dog training so you can work with him appropriately.
To the vet, immediately.

i'm sorry to tell you but if your puppy ate a sock and never passed it out either end the only option is to see your vet and most likely surgery that sock could kill him it can be wrapped in his intestines or anywhere in his insides .if he is not keeping food down there is something seriously wrong get him to a vet asap before it is to late

The only option is the vet... He knows all about dogs, and how to get things that they shouldn't have eaten,
out of them. If he ate the sock a few days ago and it hasn't come out yet, you should get him in and at least have the vet check him out, or else he is going to be in trouble. An obstruction could kill your dog ya know eh?

That is so cute that your puppy ate a sock. You have to take it to the vet and explain that you cant afford an operation and they will help you, they wont let your puppy die. They might do it for a reduced price, give you a while to pay it off, or maybe even for free. If they dont then they are not very nice people.

Mix some canned pumpkin in with his food, the canned pumpkin will help to move everything out, just make sure it is plain. This may sound gross, but check his poop everytime he goes and see if the sock has been passed through. You should probably take him to the vet and see what they have to say. You shouldn't worry too much. This probably won't be the first time he will eatsomething he shouldn't! I hope I helped!
