Wow. what a trip.

I've been saying for a whie now that the attempt to have atheism classified as a religion was a ploy to have evolution taken out of public schools, and the entwifey's link says just that.

I had no idea that anyone was idiotic enough to actually have declared atheism a religion (legally).

But I was wrong.

I'll have to do some digging and see if this stands.

I am a Christian, I don't really think it, Atheists, are in a religion. I view it more as anti-religion. They believe in nothing spiritually. They deny God and Satan as well (even though they don't know that that makes Satan happy). Even though, according to the dictionary, it is a religion. Read below.

Religion is defined as such:
Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.

A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.

The life or condition of a person in a religious order.

A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.

A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

Based on the fourth definition, Atheists are in a Religion, at least those who feel the need to pursue it and do so with devotion.

In a way there is. But consider, since they BELIEVE in religion, calling atheism a religion is rather a compliment, LOL!

Hello there. It's not ironic. It's the LAW.

No. I had a far greater effective answer whether it does no longer enable me to post it right here. Suffice it to assert the courts have ruled atheism is a faith and the humanist manifesto cites faith as a existence-type and does incorporate atheism as a faith.

Lol, it's highly, highly ironic.

A friend of mine had this on his blog today, it made me laugh out loud, because it's so brilliantly accurate:
"If Atheism or Freethought are a Religion, then Anorexia is a Style of Cuisine."

I loved that sentence!

I don't know any Christians. If you're talking about church people, well okay, their efforts to bring atheists down to their level, HEY, THAT IS VAGUELY IRONIC, now that you mention it.

They and their ilk can generate plenty of irony, they just can't ever appreciate it.

Christians strive to discredit anything, even among different denomination, it is kind of a thing in a must do list.....

Some do that so they can claim that atheists have some sort of belief in a religious theory and that therefore we are not really atheists.
Damn I've confused myself now
