well i look at it like this ... atheists are more spiritual and religeous than they like to admit ... they just dont want a boss .. a god telling them what to do ...

Atheism is a singular belief, thus not a religion in itself. Could there be atheistic religions, though? Yes, and there are.
Obviously atheism can't be reconciled with the first definition you provided, and the second implies that specific beliefs and "details" are applied, which atheism itself doesn't have, and from my experience, atheists are rather passive in their spiritual "pursuits" (or lack thereof), so I can't really fit it into any of the definitions you provided.

Atheism isn't a belief, it's the absence of a specific kind of belief. And I doubt many atheists would consider the nonexistence of gods to be of supreme importance.

1st one, obviously no.
2nd one, many atheists have varying beliefs. They do however, all just share a lack of belief in a god/gods. I would say this is no also..
3rd, also many very on what they feel is important and what is not.
Atheism does not describe a religion, it is simply the lack of belief in a deity

In the broadest sense, like how one might say, "He takes a walk after dinner every night, religiously"
It has nothing to do with religion, but implies he has a strong belief in a daily walk.

no - no and no therefore atheism is not a religion. The attempts to make it appear so is to attempt to measure it by the inadequate standards of proof presented by all religions.
