No reason to think you can't. If have never exercised before, get a check up via your doctor and find someone who can train you.

Yes, swim laps in a pool with lap lanes (indoor-outdoor). Just go back and forth any style and speed doing different strokes if you can. When you swim, you use every muscle in your body all at once, including your brain. Great for stress, too. Really works! Don't try to be an athlete.; just go back and forth however ya can make it there. I'm serious. Don't stay on the side more than 3 seconds and don't touch the bottom during your laps.

Yes. But I question if your willing to work hard at this point. Why do you want to change, why now?
You can change with the following combination:
1. Diet
2. Cardio
3. ****Weight training"
There are a lot of programs available, you research at your leisure. I just turned forty and have a muscular physic, trying lots of diets, programs, etc. The best is the book "Body for life", it teaches you how to eat to build muscle, and offers simple approaches to cardio and weight training. Good luck.
