In order to register your dog with the AKC, both sire and dam must be registered. The breeder would have then registered the entire litter, and you would have been given registration papers to send in for your specific puppy.
If the breeder of your dog didn't register the litter, then there is no possibility of registering your dog.

Can't do it. The real kennel clubs require the pedigrees from both parents in order to register a pup, and it's supposed to be done by a certain age. An adult with no papers cannot be registered with any club that matters. There are a few that will let you but only to make you pay the money for it- you can't actually do anything with the registration, it's an 'honorary' type thing for mutts, mostly. Sorry, but there's nothing you can do to register your dog.

Also, pits are not AKC registered- they are not yet an accepted breed.

Can't do it, and shouldn't do it either. If you didn't get papers with the dog, it's not a purebreed. It might be genetically, but can't be considered so without it's papers. You need to prove his pedigree in order to register and if your breeder didn't do that, then you need to contact them and get them to.

Regardless, you should not be breeding your dog. There are enough dogs already, and enough good breeders already, that an amatuer with an suspect dog will only make matters worse. You can not re-coup the money you spent by trying to breed your dog. You have a wonderful friend - be happy with that.

PLEASE, DON'T BREED THE DOG UNLESS IT IS WORTHY OF BREEDING eg. health, pedigree. If you did not get papers when you purchased him, the chances are he is not registered and you cannot registered him now. If you decide to use him as stud - the puppies will not be considered purebred pittbull. It is against the law to say the puppies are purebreds when both parents don't have papers.

If he didn't come from an UKC registered litter then he can't be registered in any legit registry. As for all the scam registries sure they will register him and anything else that has 4 legs and a tail..in otherwords they are worthless...no worth the paper they are written on.

Also in addition to being registered in a legit registry, he needs to be at least 2 years old, have had and passed genetic health testing, been temperament tested and been evaluated by at least 3 unbiased knowledgable peopel of the breed.

Do you have a female picked out to breed with? Is she papered? If not then I wouldn't worry about the papers. I have sold dogs without papers for more than one with papers. it really depends on your breeding stock. Before you deiced to breed I suggest checking the market. get the local paper and see if there are other pittbulls for sell, how much and if they are papered. It never hurts to check on the competition. You always want to make sure there are good homes for the puppies. The Pound is full of pure breed dogs that couldn't be sold or kept.
