They are called steeples, Baptist churches have them, Church of Christ, has them, Methodist churches have them, and I have seen some Catholic churches with them, some with a cross, and some without. There is no great meaning, I guess just an identification, purpose. The church that I once went to, didn't have a steeple at all, and the members decided they wanted one so, they had one installed. I must say, the building does look better, now with its steeple.

Lightening rod! I don't know honestly. I live in Louisiana, the church I attend doesn't have a cross,or point. There are those that do, and those that don't. Perhaps it's just for decor.

These "points" are actually rockets. That's so when Jesus comes again, all the Christians can get inside their churches and the churches will blast off so they can meet Jesus in the sky.
