I don't think I would flat out say please give them money in leu of a gift, but you could let them know that several people are donating money to go on a money tree to be given to them.....you go to the nursey and get a small tree in a large planter....and tie or clip money to all the branches! The tree will be something commerating their 5oth anniversary that they can nourish and watch grow as they grow old together and can use the money for a honeymoon or whatever else they wish!

I personally think that is tacky. Seems like the party is just to recieve money. If the guests decide to give a gift, at least give them the liberty of choosing one themselves instead of requesting cash. Just my opinion =)

Do you want to be tacky or not? People are not obligated to give your parents a gift at all, and if they do choose to give a gift it should be whatever THEY want to give.

If people ask you what to get your parents, it is perfectly all right to tell them that they would appreciate funding toward a vacation. Otherwise, don't mention gifts at ALL.

you could set up one of those accounts where people can contribute to the honeymoon fund with the travel company. That way you don't have to out right ask for just money (which is kind of tacky).

Most people will give them money, but it is in poor taste to ask for it. You should never tell people what to give.
