do you stick your butt out behind you (like actually STICK it out) while doing them or are you supposed to keep it under you?

OK
lunges first
stand with your feet together.
take a comfy step forward with your left leg.
your now in the position for a lunge.
bracing your tummy in back straight and pulling your shoulders back,
bend down to the count of 5.
now straiten up to the count of 5.
once you can do that you can start to add weights 5kg each had 15 lunges three sets is a great start. (dont forget to change legs)
once you can do that and your OK with your weights you can move onto squats
to really get the hang of doing these i would recommend you use a chair.
stand with the chair behind you and your legs about hip width apart.
brace your tummy keep your back straight and your shoulders back.
to the count of 5 start to sit down.....
DO NOT TOUCH YOUR BUTT TO THE CHAIR!!!
go back up to the count of 5.
once again when you have the hang of this add some weights and remove the chair. 15 reps 3 set and you'll be looking great
the reason lunges and squats are so great is because its a core exercise. It will tone your legs tummy and butt!
and remember if your doing it correctly with the right amount of weights about 1 to 2 days latter you will have some soreness. this is called delayed on set muscle soreness(DOMS)! its a good thing. If it hurts while your doing it... stop!
enjoy
Katie

Go to your couch and start to sit down, but before your butt hits the cushions, stand up again. That's what squats are. Do that as many times as you can before you have to stop. If it's too easy, start doing them slowly, really slowly. When that's easy and you can do more than 12 at a time, rest and do 12 more and rest and do 12 more (three sets of 12), then start adding weights. Lunges are when you take a step WAY in front of you, like almost three feet, and your other knee goes down almost to the floor. Do that across the room a few times. You'll be sore. When you can do it easily, then do it slowly, and when that's easy, add weights.

well squads are like when your sitting in a chair position "without the chair" you feet should be about 12"apart and then press down into the heels of your foot in chair position and then pack up and squeeze your butt. and lunges are like stepping for word one foot at a time and squadding. there are websites that have virtual trainers check them out
