There is no soul sleep of the righteous.

The moment we die, we face the judgment of God (Hebrews 9:27).

The bible clearly states:
2Co 5:8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. (ESV Translation)

Until the time of the final resurrection at the Second Coming, there is a temporary Heaven, “Paradise”, (Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 12:4) and Hell, “Hades”, (Revelation 1:18; 20:13-14).

Those that are damned will ultimately join Satan in their eternal separation from God in Hell.
2Th 1:9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might,

Those that have died in Christ now reside in heaven as spiritual beings. Since Christ, the second person of the Godhead, has always existed, the elect of God have been known to Him before Christ actually walked the earth. So anyone who has died since the world began exists in paradise or in Hades as described above.

Those who have died in Christ will not remain in heaven as a soul without a body. At God’s appointed time, there will be a final resurrection where the spirit will be unified with the resurrected body at the second coming of Christ at the final judgment. From Phil. 3:20-21, and 1 John 3:2, we know that our glorified bodies will be like that of Christ. We will not be deity like He is, but we will have the same qualities of His resurrection body. Our heavenly bodies will be our glorified earthly bodies. Christ’s body that died on the cross was the same one that was resurrected. His glorified body was able to travel through walls, appear suddenly, and ascend to heaven. From 1 Corinthians 15:39-40, 42b-43, we learn that our heavenly bodies will possess flesh that is of a different variety than our earthly ones. Our new bodies will be bodies of flesh, but as different from our earthly bodies as humans are from animals.

In conclusion, like a seed, the body of the righteous will be sown or buried and then one day be raised up to life. It is buried in death, decay, weakness, and dishonor. When it is resurrected, it will be changed in every way. It is raised up imperishable, glorious, powerful, and spiritual. We will then have eternal, permanent, and perfected bodies.

Do you mean " Does the soul really go back to the nether world or heaven depending on the sins committed"? Little Diana , it does go back. It is written that upon death the soul goes back to the father that created it. And that can be only god. Diana, satan loves it when people think that "if i sin i will go to hell, and if i don't sin i will go to heaven" Nothing could be farther from the truth. Lets take the if i don't sin part first. Everybody sins period. So now let's address the first part. If i sin i will go to hell. NOT. It is true ,God promised the wages of sin is death. But the good news i.e. gospel, is that God promises to waive that sentence of death for those whom would just believe in Jesus and his unstoppable forgiveness.
By dying on the cross Christ was given the authority to strike all your sin from the records. And God the father upon Christ's recommendation seals up the records just like judges do nowadays. It is real nice having Christ as your attorney and God as the judge..Talk about having the right connections !! ps This is not carte blanch to sin. If you sin then just repent of it and move on. In fact if you tell him honestly your sorry, then you are forgiven and he doesn't even want to hear about it again. What an awesome God.

When your body dies, you dont die, your soul lives the body and goes either to heaven or hell, the Bible is clear about this, it says for a Christian; to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. If you have a Bible read ; Hebrews,9:27, Revelation 20:11-15, 1Theselonians4:13-18. There are many more scripture that talk on this subject, but these might help you.

Bhagavad-gita-2.12 & 13
Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be. As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.

So after death of the temporary destructible body, the etrernal
spirit soul simply moves in to another body as per the karma (action) one performs in the present body. That is the reason there are different varieties of bodies depending upon one's previous work. There in no other intelligent explanation besides this.

Lord Krishna gives further information in verses 22 to 25,
As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones. The soul can never be cut to pieces by any weapon, nor burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind. This individual soul is unbreakable and insoluble, and can be neither burned nor dried. He is everlasting, present everywhere, unchangeable, immovable and eternally the same. It is said that the soul is invisible, inconceivable and immutable. Knowing this, you should not grieve for the body.

Hello. Let me give you some vital input here! When a person dies, though their body is laid in a grave... that is not the end of it. Assuming the person who passed is a child of God (a Christian), then automatically their spirit and soul (that is the will, mind, and emotions) leave their body and are taken to heaven to be with God forever. Then those who die not knowing God as their Savior, their spirit and soul is in eternal punishment. At the time of the resurrection when Jesus returns, the bodies of all the believers down through history will be perfectly restored to the saints soul and spirit making them saved and whole in spirit, soul, and body. This is the second birth, and it will be wonderful in heaven and in the presence of God. Those whose names are not in the Lambs Book of Life will be thrown into the lake of fire, and this is the second death... for which there is no escape. There is no purgatory (as the Catholics espouse to), no weighing good versus bad to see if the good outweighs the bad either. Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven and escape hell. So ask Him to reveal Himself to you... and you can join the family and be with us eternally in heaven.

In a macroscopic term, lets say soul is body. Now body cannot go out naked, so body need clothes. This means, soul uses the physical bodies as clothes. When these clothes become old or not worth of been worn we buy new clothes. Same is with soul. When our body dies, soul enters another body. This process of changing bodies continues until your soul purifies itself and becomes worthy of going back to supreme head, i.e. God.

During the period between soul leaving old body and entering new body, it travels in another place depending on Karma. This is where going to heaven or hell comes into picture. It is also possible that sometimes person dies prematurely. This can be due to somekind of accident or suicide and they have unfulfilled wish within themselves. In this case soul goes on wondering here and there looking for another body. This is what we call ghost/spirit.

animals die human being is not like animals .they have to answer to the creator of this universe for their action. They will be rewarded or punished according to their worldly life.If we leave this concept, this Earth will become a hell.Only religion stops a human being from doing ill deeds. If there is God then we are answerable before Him.He is because all the universe and its actions show there is some one who organised this all system.Think about yourself how your body works, all systems are working automatically with out your effort, same is the universe.Who made this all ,we are responsible to answer him. That can only be possible,if there is life after death..

God is just and therefore, in order to exercise His justice, He has created a system of accountability. Those who do good are rewarded in Paradise and those who do wrong are punished in Hell. Therefore, Muslims believe that the present life is a temporary one. It is a test and if we pass the test, we will be given a life of permanent pleasure in the company of good people in Paradise.
