My ambrosia is simple and my family loves it....

4 or 5 small cans of mandarin oranges (drained
except one can)
small container of sour cream
bag of mini marshmallows

Mix ingredients and chill for about an hour. The longer in the fridge the better. The marshmallows make the sour cream sweet tasting.
You can add a can of fruit cocktail-drained
and small bag of coconut

You can also mix it with a little marshmellow cream instead of just sour cream - but be warned, it will make it really sweet. I also like adding shredded coconut to mine.

Ambrosia:
2 cans chunky pineapple
2 cans fruit cocktail
2 cans tropical fruit cocktail
4 cans mandarin oranges
1 large container sour cream
1 bag miniature marshmallows
1 small jar Maraschino cherries

Drain the liquid from all the cans of fruit. Thin the sour cream with whichever fruit juice you would like. Mix all the ingredients together with the thin sour cream

I'm not big on fruit cocktail, so I've sort of created my own recipe for fruit ambrosia:

2 cans mandarin oranges, drained
1 can chunk pineapple in its own juice, drained
2 large bananas, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch slices
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup miniature marshmallows
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup whipped cream or Cool Whip

Blend the cream with the sour cream and toss with the above ingrediants. Yum!
