My male cat is about 2 years old, and since he got neutered his skin on his underside hangs low. I wouldn't say its his stomach because its not a fat bulge its more or less just skin. Can anyone tell me if this is normal?

Perfectly normal. Cats have a "fat pad" on their abdomen, its a flabby hanging flap of fur and pudge. It tends to hang lower with each passing year. Intact cats get it too. If he's overweight, that will make it hang lower too.

How to tell if your tabby's too flabby : )

Males are neutered. Females are spayed. Neutering and spaying have no effect on the growth of the feline, although males tend to be a bit larger as a general rule. Markings or coloration also makes no difference. It's simply all in the genes as far as size. The male, being a tabby, may have a bit of the Maine Coone in him, which may account for his larger size. Maine Coone's tend to run larger than the average domestic cat.

The same thing happened to my cat also. The stomach muscle becomes weak after cats are neutered (kind like when women get pregnant) and its just hangs there. The vet told me it was normal and shouldn't worry about it. Hope that helps.

Many cats have that "hanging belly" look. It is partly due to their genetic make up or heredity. I had a cat like that before - he alwasy looked like he had pajamas on.

Don't know if it is normal but my female cat is 14 and she has the same problem, so it must not hurt them.

it might be a side-effect, but i would take him to the vet rather than asking unproffessional people on the internet.

take him to the vet that you got him fixed at. if their answer doesn't seem logical, go to a different place to get him checked up on.

good luck!

It's definitely not unusual:

It's normal, especially if he isn't getting much exercise.
