for the sins of all of mankind

2007-04-04 16:00:01 · answer #1 · answered by spanky 6 · 2 3

He knew that we (humans) were fully capable of sinning, on our own free will. We are all imperfect - there's always going to be a mistake that has been made, or something unkind that was said to another.

We're perfectly able and obligated to take charge of our actions and make sure that what we do is 'righteous and fair' and that we treat others like we would like to be treated.

Jesus was very brave - what he did was something no one could ever replace. He died for our sins - all of them. He knew we were going to hurt each other, steal, lie, commit suicide, drink too much, betray or murder another individual. Jesus knew we were capable of ultimate sadness, fear, loss, and joy - he has made it possible for others to reach out for guidance and a new start in hopes of finally making it right.

He's opened the door to Heaven - it's our choice to take his hand and ask for His guidance and strength and love. Because we're not perfect on our own - Jesus has taken it upon himself to show us the way.. For what? Eternal life and love, just for believing.

We die as a consequence to sin. This is only right and just. God saw that it was so distressing to die and he also saw that basically some people hated their wickedness and wished that there was a way to remain with God always. In Genesis when God made the marriage covenant and said that the two (man and woman) would become one flesh, he had in mind what he was going to do even then and that was that he was going to send his only son Jesus, to marry us as his Church. That way what happens to us (death) is justice but it also happens to his son because of the marriage vow but by the same token what happened to him (Resurrection) will happen also to us because of the marriage vow. The marriage vow is given in Baptism. This way sin is left dead on the cross while we go free to be with Jesus. Praise his Holy name now and forever.

There are lots of reasons. One of those reasons is to demonstrate how much he cares.

Another reason is to fulfill the Old Testament prophecies from Psalms 22 and Isaiah 53 for example, which were written hundreds of years prior, not only to Jesus but also to the Roman Empire and crucifixions. These two passages are good evidence that the Bible is the Word of God. Also, the New Testament was written at a time when there would have been eyewitnesses, both friendly and unfriendly to discredit them if they were deliberately falsified.

Finally, at least the last one that I'll mention, is that under the Old Covenant that God made with Israel primarily and anyone else that would follow Him, there was no remission of sins without the shedding of blood. The Jews killed animals to cover their sins and appease God's wrath but animals are not worth as much as humans are. Therefore, animals could not fully pay for the sins of mankind. This is why believers before Jesus went to a place called Abraham's Bosom, which was the nice part of hell. It no longer exists. Jesus fulfilled all of the Old Testament sacrifices when he died on the cross for us. This is why, we don't need to perform those sacrifices to pay for our sins anymore. While his body remained in the grave, his spirit, I guess, went down to Satan's lair and forcably took the keys of sin and death. The dead believers walked out of their graves and testified to the fact that Jesus Christ is Lord, according to one of the Gospels; I can't remember which one. Somewhere along the line, though it is unclear when, probably after he rose again, they came to heaven. Undoubtedly, this is part of the reason why three thousand people converted on the day of Pentecost. The Apostle Paul, in his letters often referred to the fact that there were eyewitnesses that people could ask about Jesus' resurrection if they were unwilling to take his word for it. Another side note about the cross; if Jesus was an ordinary person who was sinless, then His crucifixion would only pay for one person but because He was God in the flesh, His crucifixion was of infinite worth and thus, He could pay for the sins of the whole world.

He endured all of God's wrath on that cross and most people just shrug their shoulders and laugh at Him for it. If that was your son and I laughed at him, would you let me stay in your house? Then why do you think that God the Father will let you into heaven if you don't repent? Everyone spent time ignoring or possibly ridiculing God and His goodness shows in the fact that He has not destroyed us all. If you do decide to repent, He will not turn you away. II Peter 3:9 says that "God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." It is His desire to save you but He will not force you to repent. You must choose for yourself. In light of what Jesus did, it is not too much to ask. You think about that this Easter Sunday.

Jesus permitted Satan and the forces of evil to unjustly put him to death because that was the only legitimate way for Satan to be deposed, as no one, not even the devil, had the power or authority to take life of a sinless man, let alone the only son of God.

When Satan, the prince of this world, arranged for the innocent Jesus to die at the hands of his minions, the Jews and the Romans, Satan committed a great crime, was judged by God for it, and lost everything that he had earlier gained from Adam's sin.

All power on heaven and earth was subsequently awarded to the resurrected Jesus, who was appointed by his Father as the new head of all mankind.

With Jesus as the head of all humanity, God is inclined to look kindly on us and forgive our sins, so long as we remain faithful to his divine son.

The church carries on Jesus' work of salvation in the world, today.

I think Jesus died on the cross so that Pontius Pilate could keep his job and so that the Sanhedrin, who at the time were appointed by Rome, wouldn't be put to death for not stopping a potential insurrection.

He didn't die on the cross for anyone. He died because the Jews wanted him slain, and Pilate wanted to control a potentially angry mob.

God forgives and doesn't need sacrifice to forgive. He can and does forgive, because he doesn't need ANYTHING.

Jesus didn't come to die, he came to lead people back to God and to reveal a new religious dispensation (Christianity).

It's IMPOSSIBLE that he took the wrath of God for everyone on Earth, past present and future. One human body simply doesn't have enough mass to it for that.

Christians are way off on this.

Not at all. Most people think of Jesus with holes in his hands from dying on the cross. When in actuality, they crucified people between the radius and ulna bones so that they wouldn't slide off after being nailed on... Just goes to show how religion is an exaggerated truth...

"God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." Jesus had the weight of the sins of the entire world on Him (1 John 2:2). It was sin that caused Jesus to cry out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46). So, as brutal as Jesus' physical suffering was, it was nothing compared to His having to bear our sins - and die for our sins (Romans 5:8).

Because the Romans used crucifixion as a death penalty!
I don't think he had much choice in the matter!
1/ "Oh, I will die for your sins"!
2/ "Oh, I will die for MY sins"!

2/ IF you have read your bible!
1/ IF you are a romantic dyslexic!

Jesus doesn't dies.......

Jesus gave himself as a sacrifice for us. He wasn't killed, no one killed Jesus. He chose when he would finish his work, then he gave up his spirit.
