I haven't a clue how long it takes for the sun itself to lighten your hair, but I do know that Sun-In products will lighten hair while you're out IN the sun. Depending on the color of your hair (as of now and/or naturally), it could take a day up to weeks to get your hair light(er). I recommend any kind of sun-in product. Wal-mart sells them and they're fairly cheap. I do believe they have two different levels, too. One is for already light hair and the other is for medium colored hair. If that's not speedy enough for you, you can always bleach your hair, but you have to be real careful with that.. It can really fry/damage hair if you don't do it right. Trust me, I've experienced that one too many times so far. About the whole arm hair thing, I'm not sure if the sun actually lightens it. However, I did notice when I get tan my body hair seems to be a bit lighter than what it normally is, but I think that the darker the skin gets, the lighter the hair appears. It could be possible that the sun is changing it though... Hopefully someone with better knowledge in this department can give you straight answers. If you do take my advice, just be cautious with the products you use, especially if you have never done anything with your hair (can be labeled "virgin hair" if you've never done ANY sort of coloring with it). Just take your time and try not to bully your hair too much. The last thing you need is it destroyed, falling out and/or breaking off. :)
- In addition to the Sun-In and bleaching.. If you have almost black hair or it is black, the results might be a bit rusty..meaning the color probably won't be a pure blonde, if, of course, that's what you're going for. The results will most likely be dull hues of blondes, yellows, oranges, and browns.

only a little bit, but dont get melanoma...aka skin cancer from prolonged sun exposure. use lemon juice to naturallly lighten your hair in the shower. just shampoo and comdition, then drip lemonjuice on and don't rinse.
