Im a huge fan of the movie Sideways and I have always been interested in drinking wine. I am turning 21 in a couple of days so I can drink legally. I hear that it is good for you. If you think I should what should I start with. I think I would like to drink red wines more than white.

I personally don't like wine. Try it out, see if you like it.

I work for a wine club and actually didn't really drink wine when I started. When I did drink I liked the light white wines best. They are easy to start with as they don't have as many flavor componants. I would suggest starting with a pinot grigio or a light sauvingnon blanc. I would also suggest going to a winery for wine tastings. They will help you learn to taste and smell all the flavors in the wines. I love big reds now but it took a little while to learn to enjoy them. It's a learning process so take suggestions and drink with friends. It helps when you have people to discuss the wines with.

Wine is fantastic! But I didn’t think that until I went wine tasting. If you go to a winery, taste the wine before buying it, then you can find the wine you like (as opposed to buying a bottle of wine and not knowing the quality at all!).

Also, certain wines compliment a meal. For instance chicken/fish with white wine or red wine with steak. Oh so good! And of course my favorite: dessert wines. This is important because certain foods enhance the flavor & compliment the wine.

I don’t know the medical reasons for wine being good for your health, but I hear a glass of red wine everyday is good for you.

Most California vintners now sell single serving bottles. You can pick them up at most supermarkets and Liquor stores, and in some places you can mix and match your own 4 pack of little wine bottles. This will give you a good foot hold into wines without having to buy large bottles fo wine you don't like and then having vinegar. (Though this is how I started to make my own vinegars) Once you decide that you like, say, a Beringer Merlot and a Columbia Crest Chardonnay, you can go to you local liquor store and ask for recommendations without sounding like, "dude, what wine will get be drunk the fastest?" Also subscribing to Food and Wine, Wine and Spirits, and other such magazines will help you out.

i prefer the red wines over white however, i'm not really a fan of wine in general. it is true that a reasonably sized glass of wine per day could have some healthful benefits for your heart, but i'm not sure whether its the wine or just the grapes in the wine. if you're looking for a beverage that's good for you, you can't beat regular ole water. i wouldn't reccommend starting a wine habit for health reasons.

A little red wine is indeed good. But as with anything alcoholic, you don't want to overdo it. No matter what the movies show, getting drunk and making a fool of yourself is NOT 'cool'. Nor is the hangover the morning afterwards.

Red wine is best for your health. Drinking a moderate glass a night is not bad and it cleans your system. Also, it decreases your chance of a heart attack. Best 1st time wine. Shiraz. It`s not too dry-not too sweet. Very pleasure able to the palate

um...i really don't know a lot about this, but I don't think you should regularly drink it.
But I've heard that wine can be good for your heart.
Maybe you should consider red grapes instead?
