Global warming is a lie which politicians exploit to take our tax money and spend it on whatever they lie about under the name of Global warming , Comets do hit planets , not because our solar system is not young that we should feel safe , in fact just a few years ago on 16 july 1994 Jupiter has 3 huge scars from many fragments of one comet called Shoemaker Levy 9 which left huge craters on it and yes comets do hit planets at any time and maybe can kill a whole planet as this happened to Mars , yes the dinosaurs were wiped out and who can guarantee we wouldnt have the same fate ,we should really use our ressources to prevent such major threats and we should use the best minds on finding ways to prevent comets collision with Earth instead of using them to wage wars and destruction on our fellow humans , it is true that craters on our planet and on the moon bear the witness of such a threat ..

You can't really make a political issue out of asteroids. Who are you going to blame and make feel guilty.
Comet and asteroid exploration is being funded to some degree. Perhaps more should be spent. We will only know for sure if it is too late. I don't agree with the Mars civilization stuff. It has been pretty well established that the Cydonia stuff was an optical illusion as much high resolution pictures became available. The general consensus is there isn't much chance of advanced lifeforms ever living on Mars.

Because global warming is considered a certainty by a lot of reasonable scientists and collisions from comets and asteroids are extremely unlikely and it looks like, since we can detect them now, we will be able to shift their direction enough to avoid the hit. There is no ancient extra-terrestrial civilization. The thousands of craters occurred over hundreds of millions of years.

Because global warming is 100% sure to cause serious trouble if we ignore it.
The chance of a major impact is very low. They happen maybe once in 100,000 years.
It's like worrying about whether you're going to get trampled by an elephant in downtown New York City. One could escape from the zoo, I suppose.

global warming is a hoax perpetrated by technique of Algore so he can promote pretend carbon credit. imagine of it as his retirement fund. authentic global warming is being brought about by technique of the solar burning hotter, it really is even melting the polar cap on Mars. Does everybody imagine that both rovers on Mars are emitting adequate carbon dioxide to meld the caps on Mars? They run on photo voltaic capacity!

Because global warming is a lie, comets and asteroids are not.
It wouldn't be stealing your money for a worthless cause if he was warning you about that.
Remember he is a Democrat and they like to cheat and lie to ignorant people.

Global warming is a real danger now--not a myth. The liklihood of a large scale impact such as you describe in the next few years is nil. And will solve itself as soon as we develop better spacecraft. But if we don't do something about global warming, we won't have to worry about asteroid impacts--we'll have already destroyed ourselves.

Now I'm no scientician, but I'm pretty sure there's not much we can do to prevent comets and asteroids from colliding with the earth. (With the exception of building some sort of large rocket that would blast them to pieces before they entered our atmosphere.) Global warming is not a myth; it's real and it' affects can be seen all over the world. It is also a man-made disaster that we need to stop from progressing any farther.

Because, reasonably speaking, there's a lot more we can do about global warming than we can about something hitting the planet. Building a weapon large enough and fast enough to avert a potential catastrophe would require pretty much the entire resources of the planet, as long as we have early warning, which we ARE making great strides in, we could probably pull it off. Also given the relatively stable nature of our solar system the likelyhood of a mass extinction impact is relatively low, there isn't THAT much free mater flying around our solar system to hit us like there was when the solar system was younger.
