Thank you my friends for your advice.

I just got one replaced for AU$350, fixed up extra $50 so total AU$400.

should be around US$327. very glad it wasn't more.

maybe a bit on the expensive side from what you have quoted in the US but the alternator is quite new. should be ok. glad it was fixed in less than 3 hours so we can get back to normal life :)

Thanks Guys, you all are great.

i own a shop and here in the states a new one cost over a 100 dollars real easy and a rebuilt one around 80 dollars ,so there is a lot of difference in price on these,i don't know in your currency what that would be but here depending on the year of it ,some of them can cost around 300 for a new one, good luck i hope this helps.

As Dodgeman has already stated prices vary greatly. Parts houses think they are doing you a favor by selling Toyota alternators for $250. - $300.00. They don't have the heart to tell you if they are 100% new. Research on line and visit local starter and alternator re-builders. Have your present unit rebuilt.

do you have any junkyards around? around here, about$40 dollars u.s. for a used alt, although you already have a used one. re-manufactured at autozone or advance, about $130. dont pay to have it installed. it is quite easy on this car, v6 or 4 cyl. find a friend with some slight mechanical knowledge to put it on. a shop will charge $70-80 just for labor. cool
