Wait... going to church-- causes the suicidal thoughts? It sounds like you need to stop going to church. Evidently, religion isn't for you...

Nor is it for me. But, that's not to say that I don't believe in God. I think there is one-- or more than one-- or whatever, but I think of God on my own terms, and I don't let anyone else's opinions get in the way of my own beliefs. Don't give up on God, just find Him on your own terms.

As a former Catholic I can honestly say that many of us are so screwed up from being in that particular belief system that it's no wonder you want to turn atheist!

But don't! Don't throw away your spiritual salvation just because you were in the wrong place. Catholicism is a cult, put quite simply, so no wonder we want to defect to "nothingness" through no religion at all.

I suggest a better way. Seek out a good non-denomination church. Visit several. See where you fit and begin to learn what God is really all about. The Catholic church never really teaches what God is or what a spiritual life really is either.

Hang in there. Ask God for help, to guide you, He will. Listen carefully for His guidance. Watch your thoughts, keep them clear. Read the Bible, seek out a good Bible study too. Start your day by praying and end your day the same way. Prayer is powerful.

Well to me it means no hope but that's only because i went to church once and asked my pastor for help cause i was thinking about suicide and he started yelling about how i was the devil and had no ope and kicked me out of the church so if your having thoughts at church the best advise i can give is don't tell anyone cause they'll think your crazy and put you on meds or think that your looking for attention and ignore you if the thoughts continue then i suggest hurting your self like cutting your wrist but not too deep that way the pain of hurtting yourself will take your mind off the suicidal thoughts

Having suicidal thoughts at a church does not mean that you are becoming atheist. It means you are suffering from depression. If this is the first time you have ever had suicidal thoughts, do not panic. Everyone goes through some sort of depressed phase. If this is NOT the first time, please think about getting help from a psychologist. Depending on how serious your thoughts have become, your situation may be more important to get help.

Ask yourself if you have begun to plan out the steps you have to take to kill yourself. If it's just thoughts like, "Life is too hard, it would be easier to be dead," YOU STILL NEED HELP. But if you have thought, "I need to get a gun and write a note. Life is too hard..." then you need help IMMEDIATELY!

Please, I have been suicidal, and i got help. Life is worth living.

Generally, when a person is suicidal, they will have suicidal thoughts everywhere they go. If this is happening, you need to get help as soon as possible! The fact that you are having these thoughts at church probably does not have anything to do with your religious beliefs, but with your mental health. Get help as soon as you can!

suicidal thoughts no matter where you have them are a sign of illness and you need to get some help. if you were asking God to help you I personally think that is great but God is with you every step of the way wherever you are, all you have to do is ask Him sincerely. See a Dr. though about your thoughts you may need medication. Good Luck to you and God bless you.

calm down now... It probably means your thinking about what it all means... I have strange thoughts in church sometimes too....

Sometimes strange thoughts like these acure when your REALLY thinking about what the preacher is talking about... you may be thinking about how life was started, or you may be questioning your religion, and you may getting a little freaked out about it...

Sometime I have weird thoughts, like if I didnt exist, or if none of my life ever happened.... It gives me a weird feeling...

You have nothing to fear.... God is on your side :) and if you have any questions, just ask one of your trusted friends at church :)

hope this helps :)

It is obvious that you don't have a mental illness but a spiritual illness. We cannot call one religion best. All religions are useful and God uses this method of letting man develop religions from the one pure religion. The purest religion is all knowledge. Don't even hope to learn all knowledge. Stay with your own unless you are an outcast then go where you are accepted.
