I have been married for 6 1/2 years and I have suffered from depression and anxiety for 15 years.
My husband and I have had some rough times, because of my anxiety and depression.
I never wanted to be around a crowd and he is a people person. He never understood what I was going through, until I sat down and wrote exactly how it feels to have anxiety. Maybe you should try and explain how you feel to your boyfriend
I was off and on medications and they did help.. I have been off of them for about 6 months now and I have been doing great. (so you don't have to stay on them for life)
I forced myself to face my fears. For example....I could not go and get a hair cut, because I was scared (I know it sounds strange). I forced myself to do it. I learned that I had to face my fears and show myself that everything was going to be alright.
For my depression.....I always try to keep busy. I never stay in the house alone too long, because that is when your mind can wonder and things can get worse. I still have those nights when the kids are asleep and my husband is working, were I have panic attacks because my mind just starts to think about every thing.
You are not alone and your condition is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. The medication can restore the balance. Go and speak with your Dr. I'm sure he/she will not think you are crazy.
You can overcome this and good luck!

You keep mentioning your boyfriend in your question, why is that, is he part of the problem?
I suggest you put aside your fears about being "labeled" or put in a psych ward (that is for very serious psychotic cases). You need to talk to a counselor about what is happening and get some clarity about your life. You don't need to see a psychiatrist, just a counselor. Choose one you feel comfortable with, probably a woman so you feel that you can open up more.

See a doctor, in case it is thyroid related, but medication and therapy may take time to be effective: Practice for 15 -20 mins daily, and when needed, the midfulness breathing method at http://www.dbtselfhelp.com/ or gaze at a burning candle in a quiet, darkened room for 20 mins: both get best results from morning, afternoon, and evening use. Tai Chi & yoga suit some (http://www.yogasite.com) Take a vitamin B complex, and 4 fish oil supplements, eat healthily, keep occupied, and work up slowly to 30 - 60 mins of vigorous exercise, all of these daily. See http://www.beattheblues.info/? & www.depression.com/- & see http://www.anxietytreatmentnetwork.org (.org/search/?) No medications for colds, illicit drugs, coffee or caffeine products (tea, chocolate, cocoa, Excedrin, Red Bull, Coke, Pepsi, or Mountain dew), but take chamomile or seven blossoms tea, or Valerian root. Ecco, Caro, carob based chocolate substitutes and decaf Coke & Pepsi are OK.

In the beginning God divided all life into two groups...the winner\users and the giver\loners. Life is created by an excellent design but there is a percentage failure. Those that feel different from everyone else really are. They are a small group called the outsiders. They will struggle greatly in life to keep afloat. God will actually help them if they honestly try to learn what the main force called the users do in life and the rules that they follow. The outsider stands out as different socially . It is normal if your body doesn't adapt easily to the ways of the majority then you don't like their way of living. You will be shunned at best or severely pressured at worst. There is an insult unto death from friends and family. I hope you never have to deal with that. Learn who your kind of people are and be safe in a safe place.

I would go to the doctor and get a pill for anxiety/depression or what ever the problem is. You may not like taking pills, I know I don't but it might help. Don't worry about what other people think. You need to worry about your self and take care of your self so you feel better.
