Why do people "half quote" the Quran and make it seem that it preaches violence?

I mean it is only fair that the whole paragraph is shown not just one sentence or a couple of words from it.

It's getting tiring seeing people who claim Muslims condone extremism when they don't know sh**, have never travelled enough and base their judgement on Osama and CNN.

With regards to sayings of the Quran that says all disbelievers will go to hell, I'll not even bother as the bible says that as well.

(Yes I have read it but than most religious books of any kind will say that anyway so who cares)
Please remember that we share the same prophets. The same God we are talking about saved Moses's folllowers and destroyed the pursuers by collapsing sea water on them. Not mentioning all the earthquakes and disasters as punishment during other prophet's time too.

For the record, I think most Muslims are great people. But like the Bible, the Koran is not so great.

I have found that the best way to show how evil Islam is, is to accurately quote the koran and demonstrate it's influence on terrorism. The first foreign enemy to attack American peacefully trading with other countries were muslim terrorists from North Africa. Muslims try to lie and say islam is peaceful, yet most wars in the world were started by muslims who refuse to live in peace with their neighbors. We are not fooled, and out tolerance is growing shorter that the fuse on a suicide bomber's vest.

Er... what half quotes are you talking about? for every passage of peace and lovingkindness there are ten saying either a) that only applies to Muslims, or b) all jews and christians must die.
Example, (loose translation) There is the house of peace and the house of war. The house of peace is the land ruled by Muslims. The house of war is land not under islamic control. It it necessary to make sure all the land is the house of peace.

Islam was invented by the followers of a mad, child raping murderer, who's only joy was to destroy. Like 3 year old, who test their power, men flock to Islam, because it gives them power over women and a reason to kill. Basically whole passages where just copied from the Testament, which is bloody enough, the rest is a call to destruction of non believers and vile rantings. Arabs used to be a very productive part of human society, before Mohamed came along and made them bitter, jealous devils of revenge. Proof otherwise!

Well it may be the fact that people frequently blow themselves up and say it is because of Islam.

To me it doesn't really matter what the Koran says about it. The guys that keep doing this crap say that is why, and I don't see any reason not to believe them. Further they are wildly popular among other Muslims for it. Hundreds of thousands show up for Hamas rallies, not just a few.

So if you seriously wish to change the image, start with them.

I woud love to see the rest of the paragraphs to see how they contradict the first halves.

If the first part of a passage says to kill infidels, does the rest of the passage say, "Sorry, we were only joking!"???

If not, then you have no grounds to defend the Quran.

time and time again muslims cry foul on the R/S section that people are "half quoting" the quran when the truth is that they are not.

the quran is quite violent and in humane in some of it's verses, but don't feel bad, because the christian bible is no better.

If i were Allah, i would have made my holy word so perfect so that detractors couldn't even make the slightest claim of contention. wouldn't you?

People misquote things all the time. It's the only way they can find any text anywhere to support their half-baked ideas. They misquote all holy literature, believe me.
