There is not a bible literate person in the world that would say that everything in the bible should be taken literally. There is a whole lot that is symbolism etc.

The Bible has things which are literal and things that are spiritual.. I do not know anyone who thinks that Christ is literally a rock or cornerstone or lamb.

Everything in the Bible is taken literally unless it is obvious that it was intended as a lesson such as in parable form or in symbolic terms such as in the book of Revelation. (Christian Bible)
