my friend is selling his car for 400 but told me that if i could sell it for more i could have the difference. I could sell it to someone that I know and hang out with once in a while for 700. There is a broken head gasket on it. the person i can sell it to knows nothing about cars and offered me the 700. should i sell it to him?

Don't prey on the ignorance of others. How would you like it if someone did the same thing to your Mom?

That doesn't mean you can't make the sale. Just let the person know about the defects, so they can make an informed decision.

No. Number one, you still will have to see this person in the future. If you are okay with him hating you after the sale of this lemon then take the chance.

Also, what happened to the "Golden Rule" (do unto others as you would have them do unto you)? How would you feel if someone took advantage of you this way?

I am not trying to chastise you, I admire you for having the character to ask for advice before doing this.

If you do go ahead with the sale, just be prepared to lose an acquaintance and deal with angry words,a hassle and a nagging conscience.

Best wishes!

Be up front with him on the problems of the car. Then if he wants it let him have it. It would be his own fault if he takes the car. Maybe even offer to help him fix it since it is a friend.
