All segments of society are susceptible to problems with the brain, emotions, behaviors, or chemical imbalances in the body/brain. Each person who is requiring a stable inpatient respite, should have access to the psych ward. I see no reason to purpose to exclude any single segment of society from individually needed care.

I use to think that homosexual people basically became homosexual because they wanted to be different, and that it was nothing to do with the brain, but only what their choice was. Recently, a friend came out to me that he was bisexual and how much he hates admitting this. He hasn't told very many people. He figured this out when he became friends with a guy and a relationship just formed. He says he can't help it and i beleive him. I don't think that homosexuality is serious enough to be considering a "mental disorder" and even if it was, i don't think there is treatment. It doesn't matter if a person is gay, straight, or both, just that they are happy.

Not for homosexuality. I'm going to assume you're referring to the homophobia that doctors might exhibit against homosexuals trying to get treatment for something that a heterosexual person might. If that is your question, then yes, they should be in psychiatric hospitals. If you question is regarding homosexuality as something that needs treatment then I have an easier answer. Only if people like you are forced to be sterilized and given mandatory lobotomies.

No there is nothing wrong with them they are just like the rest of us...a little crazy at times and don't think logically but that doesn't mean that they should be in a psychiatric hospital.

Homosexuality is not considered a mental illness, and hasn't been since the 1960's I believe.

You could not be admitted to a mental hospital for treatment for it. (And personally, I think people are born/develop that way and once they are set up that way, they are going to be homosexual for life. Heck, I don't just think that, there is lots of research to support that conclusion. I can't see what's wrong with homosexuality, either. Cultures in the past thought it was acceptable, somehow modern cultures have "issues" with it).

uh, why would they need help? Homosexuals can't change who they are anymore than heterosexuals can. It's not a choice, it's biology. You're either attracted to the opposite sex or the same sex....or both as the case seems to be w/ bi-sexuals.

Homosexuality isn't a mental disorder, why should they be getting help? There are people worse than them and they need the help.

Only if they are suffering from a mental illness. By the way, homosexuality is neither an illness nor a sin. So, go away and leave the stupid questions in the closet where they belong!
