Most Churches say it was on Friday...but I've heard different from different people through the years. I just want someone who knows the jewish history well and is a Godly person who knows the truth to clear this up.

I like the way this website chronologically puts the time when Jesus was crucified. - It was on Wednesday by the way. - http://www.gnmagazine.org/issues/gn51/goodfriday_chronology.htm

I don't claim to be an expert, but it was explained to me years ago in this way.
Jesus was tried and crucified on the day before Passover.... since Passover begins officially at sundown on Friday, it would follow that Friday was the day he died (let's say "day 1")
His family had to quickly remove him from the cross and hastily place him in the tomb because they weren't allowed (by Jewish law) to work or do any labour on the Sabbath.
Saturday - the Sabbath - becomes "day 2"
Mary decided very early Sunday morning that she had better get the spices out to anoint (or prepare) Jesus' body for final burial... she rushed to the tomb as soon after 6:00am on Sunday (the day after Passover) as she could.... only to find that the tomb was empty. Sunday morning is "day 3"
Therefore, even though Jesus died, was placed in the tomb and rose in somewhere between 36 and 42 hours, it was essentially "3 days" according to the way the account is structured.

hope that helps....
blessings and Happy Easter

He was crucified on a Friday, but before sundown (which is the start of Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath). According to the legend, he died before sundown, avoiding a death on Shabbat. That's why the Roman soldiers didn't break his legs, as they usually did to those still alive at that time, in order to keep them from escaping after nightfall. Hope this helps.

Jesus hung on the cross for 3 hours according to all recorded accounts starting at mid day before the Sabbath. He had to day befoer the Shabbat of Passover which would have put him going on the cross about Noon on Friday and dying about 3pm before the sundown on Friday night which would start the Sabbath.

The date was Nisan 14, which began on sundown of what we would consider Thursday. He died around 3pm Friday, which was still Nisan 14 (date-wise).

Jeshua was not the "christ" or messiah. What's the difference what day he died?
