Type E's are 4-ohm single voice coil subs rated for 250 watts RMS. You should be able to find a mono amp rated for that kind of power, and it would be able to run a second sub as well if you decide to add another.

This Alpine amp would be a pretty good match: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-idT6rfptb9u/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=500MRPM450

When selecting an amplifier, go by rms power ratings.
If your sub is a 4Ohm 500watts rms, you'll need an amp that puts out about 500wrms @4Ohms.
Make sure the amp is CEA-compliant, this ensures that it's been through testing to verify it puts out what it claims.

Good Luck!

i would recommend a profile ap600. It puts out the power you'd need, and it is at a decent price.
