Sure, why not? I think he did. Then he died. Now he's long gone.

Seems pretty straightforward.

I'm not an athiest, but generally I use this as a line in the sand by which to decide which atheists have their thinking caps on, and which don't. Those that deny the very existence of the Nazarean run contrariwise to all historical doctrine and record, they do so to defy religion, not because the facts are on their side.

I still believe that he may have existed but my studies of the Gnostics may change my level of certainty. If he existed he was against the dogma and strict following of it. His criticisms of the Pharisees and Sadducees show how much he was against "Fundamentalism" in his own time. His parables indicate this as well. The parable of the "Good Samaritan" Shows that he did not believe that people had to hold the same religious beliefs to "enter the kingdom of heaven" he explained to the lawyer that the most important thing was to "love YOUR god with all your heart etc. and LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR as yourself".

I am an atheist.

I am not sure Jesus ever existed in real life. There are no contemporaneous objective records of his existence. And I know that the romans of that age were very detailed historians in that they even provided the contents of their laundry.

In any case, it is of no real importance to me whether somebody lived or not back then.

I think there is enough evidence to prove that a Jew named Jesus was living at the same time as the one you call Jesus Christ...

I AM AN ATHEIST.
He obviously DID LIVE. There are a couple hundred historical accounts-Christian and non-Christian-that tell us that Jesus existed. I just believe that Jesus was a regular human, with no godlike powers, who was a good but who died and stayed dead.

Sure, maybe he did. I just don't believe him to have been anything other then a normal human being...maybe a Mother Theresa type of his time..but normal none the less.

Refer to my question: How can you question the existence of Jesus when it is Historically fact?

Probably, but it isn't a sure thing. There isn't much outside documentation. At the very least he didn't really impress the Romans because they didn't even notice him.

He was a real person but not the Son of God as Christians claim.

There's some secular evidence that suggests he did, but I'm still a bit skeptical.
