running and crunches are good, there's a tool at every gym designed just for this. it looks like a chair without the bottom and you hold yourself up with your forearms and let your legs dangle. pull your legs up to your chest while you twist 90 deg. to the sides and feel them handles melt away. Diet is also very important, remember you don't stop burning calories and start burning fats until you've been working for 20min. so increase the duration of your workouts too. Be prepared to work hard and you'll get there!

Because we cannot spot reduce, you have to lose fat on your whole body. This is why people with defined abs generally have defined arms, legs, backs, and chests.

Here is the proper way to lose fat on your whole body:

Eat 6 small but balanced meals per day. Your carbs should be high in fiber and your proteins should be lean. Fats should be sparing but concentrated in the omega 3's and omega 6's. Avoid greasy foods, alcohol, and candy.

Lift weights because the slight increase in your lean mass will burn extra calories 24 hours per day. This will increase your resting metabolic rate. Also, some cardio helps.

Use a measuring tape instead of a scale to measure your progress because it is more accurate than the scale.
